ARTIST QUOTES
NOELLE LEE (https://www.worshipworship.com/)
Lee says of her colored pencil work, “For this piece I was really inspired by the color palette and ethereal scenes in both Ilomilo and ILY. This illustration features Billie on her bed, drawing to the idea of a place of comfort and safety. To contrast this idea of comfort, I chose to encapsulate the scene in a snow globe. The globe represents the thought that although Billie may be in a state of comfort in herself and her work, she is still being viewed and interacted with by the outside world. In all, the purpose of the piece is to represent the fragile and blurry parts of Billie’s world and artistic life which is on view for all.”
NATHALIE NGUYEN (https://www.nathalie-nguyen.com/)
Nguyen says of her oil on canvas print, “In reference to Billie Eilish’s song “ilomilo”, the painting features Billie submerged in an underwater scene. Inspired by the line from the song: “the world’s a little blurry. or maybe it’s my eyes” which is also the title of the documentary. The painting was executed as a nod to impressionism and uses soft brush strokes, vibrant depiction of light, and blurry figures in the background to bring the subject, Billie, into focus.”
