O.A.R. to Headline 'The Concert to Save the Jersey Shore'

O.A.R., a rock band known for its deep commitment to social responsibility--as well as its chart-topping gold and platinum singles--today confirmed that it will perform as the headline act for The Concert to Save the Jersey Shore at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, NJ on Saturday, August 3, 2013.

The event will raise funds and awareness for the Foundation to Save the Jersey Shore, a grassroots organization with a reputation for cutting through red tape and helping victims of Superstorm Sandy in the Garden State. The foundation has stepped in where traditional sources of aid have been exhausted, coordinating money, materials and manpower--getting it directly to the people and communities that most desperately need it. O.A.R. has folded this appearance into its 'Sounds of Summer' Tour.

According to Save the Jersey Shore co-founder Warren Diamond, the costs of The Concert to Save the Jersey Shore will be covered by the charity's corporate partners, so every dollar of ticket sales, and a portion of merchandise sales (along with on-site donations), will go directly to neighbors in need. As summer approaches, more than 20,000 people in the state's communities are still unable to move back into their homes. Some put that number as high as 30,000.

"These guys have been fantastic from the get-go," says Diamond of O.A.R. "Like us, they saw a problem and moved quickly to solve it. They understand the passion and focus of our organization, and wanted to share in our efforts to help the shore rebuild."

On the bill for The Concert to Save the Jersey Shore along with O.A.R. are Andrew McMahon (formerly of Jack's Mannequin and Something Corporate) and Allen Stone.

"Our band grew up enjoying beaches up and down the Eastern seaboard, including the Jersey Shore," says O.A.R.'s bassist Benj Gershman. "So when Sandy hit, we all felt it. The Concert to Save the Jersey Shore is our way of contributing to the process of rebuilding."

Tickets for The Concert to Save the Jersey Shore are on sale through Live Nation and range from $25 to $79.95. All tickets previously purchased for the Saturday, August 3rd performance will be honored.

In the six months following Sandy, Save the Jersey Shore volunteers have helped to clean up hundreds of homes, delivered truckloads of building supplies, appliances and furniture, and distributed checks and gift cards to families on the edge.

"We are excited and honored to partner up with the Foundation to Save the Jersey Shore," adds Gershman. "We want to support their crucial effort, and have The Concert to Save the Jersey Shore be a very special event on our Sounds of Summer Tour."
