Today, with the immense addition of several renowned headliners and an astounding breadth of audio programming, On Air Fest has reaffirmed and further expanded its place as the preeminent destination for storytellers and listeners alike. From February 28th-March 1st at Brooklyn's Wythe Hotel, 2024's event is about to bring together the vast vanguard of those shaping the culture of sound and the future of podcasting, pushing the medium far beyond the limits of personal listening devices. Described as both the Sundance of Audio and "the Coachella of podcast festivals" (Fast Company), On Air Fest is led by a lineup that places media powerhouses alongside emerging voices, visionary thinkers, intrepid musicians and more. Across three different stages and an array of live sessions, conversations and multi-sensory experiences, On Air Fest gives artists the opportunity to step forward and people the chance to connect as a community. With this colossal new wave of talent that has just been revealed, here is just some of what attendees can expect throughout the event's three days and nights: Wednesday, February 28th will bring the return of the industry-shaping, invite-only Hot Pod Summit. Presented in collaboration with Hot Pod and The Verge, and this year's official lead sponsors, AdsWizz and Simplecast, this 2024 edition will see host Ariel Shapiro talk to Ira Glass (Host & Executive Producer, This American Life), with additional panel discussions and programming to be revealed soon.
Thursday, February 29th kicks off On Air's packed schedule of public festivities, with this first day and night featuring a special session from Serial co-creators Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder, Laurie Anderson in conversation with radio legends The Kitchen Sisters, a live version of Weight For It with host Ronald Young Jr., and Sheroes with host Carmel Holt. Additionally, Tonya Mosley – creator and host of Truth Be Told and co-host of NPR's Fresh Air – will present an exclusive first-listen of her new limited series, She Has A Name, produced by TMI Productions and APM Studios. All of this joins the lineup alongside previously revealed, interactive editions of The Allusionist with host Helen Zaltzman, Sing For Science with neuroscientist Bevil Conway and rising superstar musician Sid Sriram, and Talkhouse Podcast.
Friday, March 1st continues On Air Fest's groundbreaking slate of public offerings, highlighted by 2024's Audio Vanguard Award recipient, Malcolm Gladwell. In addition to a wide-ranging conversation between Gretta Cohn (CEO, Pushkin Industries) and the bestselling author, journalist and hit podcast host, the third and final day of the festival now features the very first look at WBUR's Beyond All Repair, a brand new series from Amory Sivertson (WBUR's Endless Thread) and Zac Stuart-Pontier (Crimetown, HBO's The Jinx), exploring the relationship between a journalist and alleged murderer who maintains her innocence, and Sivertson's three-year investigation into the case. Also joining the lineup are Freakonomics host Stephen Dubner in a career-spanning conversation with Hot Pod's Ariel Shapiro, musical mysteries from Switched on Pop and hosts Charlie Harding and Nate Sloan, live tapings of reality dating show Hang Up!, long-running Dungeons & Dragons podcast Join The Party, and the previously announced Design Matters with Debbie Millman. Friday's festivities will be hosted by Vulture Critic, Nick Quah.
Both February 29th and March 1st will also include a series of group listening experiences with Audio Flux, happy hours and performances in the theater with iHeart Podcasts, a creator space with ESPN 30 for 30 where producers can pitch podcast ideas and interact with 30 for 30 editors, and the Now On Netflix Lounge, a premium takeover of Bar Blondau with skyline views of the city and all day networking and hospitality, and even more to be announced – from Main Stage headliners to live tapings in the Podcast Penthouse, evening events in the cinema-style Screening Room, and an array of unexpected audio installations. Find more information about On Air Fest 2024 and tickets on-sale HERE, and stay tuned for the complete schedule coming soon Produced by work x work – the go-to creative agency that's been powering the podcast revolution, bringing major brands like Meta, Sonos, Spotify, Squarespace, Target, Sony Music Entertainment and many more into the audio movement – On Air Fest has premiered dozens of award-winning podcasts, produced hundreds of live sessions, convened thousand of fans each year, and has grown to encompass not only a bi-coastal, bi-annual festival, but also a touring vertical called On Air Presents, and On Air: The Podcast Experience, the first-ever immersive podcast experience that premiered at this past year's Brooklyn edition. On Air has managed to take something as intangible as an "audio community" and gather it together in a room, and this year it looks forward to welcoming a widening definition of podcasting and a new, original and optimistic class of creatives. |
