Next Saturday, November 5th, as part of the third and final day of On Air LA Annex, Patreon will present the first-ever On Air Open House. Taking place from 12pm-5pm at the brand new dublab warehouse in Los Angeles (1035 W 24th St), the free and public event invites Southern California to celebrate its creative community, and advance the culture of audio. Bringing together a breadth of local storytellers, podcasters, artists and audio makers, the afternoon will feature on-the-hour DJ sets, exclusive live tapings, a gathering of LA Radio Club, performances and conversations, plus food, drink and more that has just been announced, all emceed by LA podcasters and Locatora Radio hosts Mala Muñoz and Diosa Femme.
Talent includes the teams behind podcasts such as Locatora Radio, Celebrity Book Club and Canción Exploder, LA-based producers and managers from KPCC, TED, Patreon, Pineapple Street Studios and beyond, as well as dublab executive director Alejandro Cohen and founder Mark "Frosty" McNeill. Ahead of the On Air Open House, On Air LA Annex's flagship, ticketed events will also feature a sweeping showcase of leaders, inspired listeners and trailblazing new voices who are defining the current moment in sound. Hailed as "the Coachella of podcast festivals" (Fast Company), "showing how creativity, branding, and the power of the human voice can come together" (Forbes), the bicoastal, Brooklyn-based On Air Fest's first Los Angeles edition in three years will unfold at the KCRW HQ in Santa Monica from 6:30pm-9:30pm on both November 3rd and 4th, plus the alt comedy hub of Dynasty Typewriter to close things out from 6:30pm-9:30pm on November 5th.
Highlights for Night One of On Air LA Annex at KCRW HQ on Thursday, November 3rd, include music, games and conversation between reigning king of pop culture Sam Sanders (Into It, Vulture), Novena Carmel and Anthony Valadez (Morning Becomes Eclectic, KCRW), as well as the exclusive world premiere for Pink Card, an unreleased and revolutionary new series from producer Shima Oliaee (Dolly Parton's America) and ESPN's 30 for 30. Presented by Audible, Night Two on Friday, November 4th, will bring an exclusive performance and world premiere event for Unlicensed, the new Audible Original from Welcome to Night Vale creators, as well as live poetry from LA Poet Laureate Lynne Thompson, and a live taping of Sonos Radio's Object of Sound with host Hanif Abdurraqib and special guest Hrishikesh Hirway of Song Exploder. Then, after the On Air Open House on November 5th, Earwolf and host Jacquis Neal will present Comedian Family Feud at Dynasty Typewriter, where two teams of podcasters will compete in the style of the classic game show.
