March 2, 2026 - - The third annual Montreux Jazz Festival Miami unfolded over five spectacular nights this past week, at The Hangar at Regatta Harbour in Miami’s Coconut Grove, and at the Miami Beach Bandshell. Expanded from three nights to five for the first time, Montreux Jazz Festival Miami ‘26 gave fans night after night of unforgettable musical moments. 

Montreux Jazz Festival Miami brings the spirit of the iconic Swiss festival to South Florida with a genre-spanning line-up, spontaneous collaborations, surprises, special guests and the Legendary Jam Session each night, curated by festival co-founder and headliner Jon Batiste.

Montreux Jazz Festival Miami has also announced that it will return in 2027, with more details to be announced soon. 

Montreux Miami ‘26 kicked off with a sold-out Miles Davis Centennial Celebration at the Miami Beach Bandshell, and in recognition of the festival’s cultural impact, the Mayor and Commissioners of the City of Miami Beach presented Montreux Jazz Festival Miami with an official proclamation declaring February 25, 2026 as “Montreux Jazz Festival Miami Day.” On Saturday night, at The Hangar in Coconut Grove, festival goers were welcomed from the stage by Miami Mayor Eileen Higgins.  

Wednesday – Miles Davis Centennial (Miami Beach Bandshell)

The festival opened with a sold-out celebration honoring Miles Davis’ Centennial in 2026, featuring Miles Electric Band (M.E.B.) led by Davis’ nephew Vince Wilburn, Jr., Kind of Blue Acoustic Band led by drummer Lenny White and featuring a who’s-who of legendary players, and special guests including JoJo, Lalah Hathaway, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Maurice “Mobetta” Brown, Sammy Figueroa, and Ibrahim Maalouf. 

Thursday – Makaya McCraven (Miami Beach Bandshell)

Drummer Makaya McCraven and his band showed just how limitless the genre of jazz can be, with a mesmerizing night of music at the Bandshell

Friday – Trombone Shorty, Jon Batiste, New Orleans Celebration (The Hangar at Regatta Grove)

The festival moved to Coconut Grove in Miami with Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, followed by a one-night-only New Orleans Celebration hosted by longtime friends and New Orleans musical ambassadors Jon Batiste and Shorty. In between hopping from one instrument to another, and having a drum-off, they brought out fellow Big Easy natives PJ Morton, Tank of Tank and the Bangas, and up-coming rapper La Reezy. Batiste and Shorty led a parade of musicians through the packed audience to close out the set. Batiste returned for the Legendary Jam, with dozens of musicians packing the stage and playing into the early morning. 

Saturday – Nile Rodgers & CHIC, TOTO, Adi Oasis (The Hangar)

Nile Rodgers & CHIC dazzled the packed crowd with hit after hit, a funk-disco dance party for the ages. TOTO had the audience in the palm of their hands, a high-octane set of iconic classic rock hits, hard-driving prog, searing solos and anthemic singalongs. Bassist/singer Adi Oasis got the night started with a sublime set of groovy soul and funk. The Legendary Jam returned with Batiste and dozens of musicians, including Cuban legends Pedrito Martinez, Cimafunk and Alfredo Rodriguez, plus Bill Murray and many others.

Sunday – Pedrito Martinez w/special guest Bill Murray, Elena Rose, Bomba Estéreo (The Hangar) 

The festival concluded with performances from Bomba Estéreo, Elena Rose, and Pedrito Martinez with special guests Bill Murray, closing out the weekend with a vibrant celebration of global sounds.

Bill Murray capped the Sunday jam session with a performance of "Light My Fire," marking the occasion by recounting Jim Morrison's legendary arrest at the nearby Dinner Key Auditorium on March 1, 1969 — exactly fifty-seven years to the day — just steps from where The Hangar stage now stands. Cuba Gooding Jr. was also part of the all-star jam.

Attendees also enjoyed extended DJ sets across the festival grounds from Miami vinyl bar institution Dante’s HiFi, and a host of local Miami hot spot eateries provided a wide array of food and beverage options.
