PJ Morton has released Cape Town To Cairo (Live): a new album and concert film, arriving on the two-year anniversary of his life-changing month spent in Africa. With no music, lyrics or preconceptions, PJ Morton stepped foot onto the continent at the start of October 2023, and promised himself that in just 30 days, no matter what happened, he would make a record. Traveling from South Africa to Nigeria, Ghana and Egypt, he experienced as many cultures, stories and communities as he could, captured the emotions he felt in each city, and poured it all back into the music. The result was Cape Town To Cairo, a collection of nine songs unveiled in 2024, now reimagined and reinvigorated by PJ Morton and his band, Afro Orleans.

While the original Cape Town To Cairo featured artists such as Fireboy DML, Mádé Kuti, Asa, Ndabo Zulu, and Soweto Spiritual Singers, local players and producers including P.Priime and The Cavemen., Afro Orleans serves as a musical bridge between PJ Morton's native Louisiana and all of the people, places and inspirations he witnessed throughout his crosscontinental journey. Like his previous live albums – Watch The Sun Live, the GRAMMY-winning Gumbo Unplugged and more – Cape Town To Cairo (Live)brings listeners right into the room and onto their feet, up close and personal for an exhilarating performance of massive arrangements and unmatched musicianship.
In addition to Cape Town To Cairo, the 5x GRAMMY-winning PJ Morton has also released a career-spanning memoir titled Saturday Night, Sunday Morning, collaborative projects with rapper La Reezy and gospel star Darrel Walls, and more in recent months. Currently in the midst of a headline tour, Morton also just welcomed Stevie Wonder for a surprise sit-in at his Los Angeles show this week, performed alongside Tom Morello, Bun B and Charlie Wilson, toured with Maroon 5, and soundtracked Dr. Suess's Red Fish, Blue Fishfor Netflix, following his historic theme song and composition for Disney World and Disneyland's Tiana's Bayou Adventure. Upcoming tour dates include his annual Black Friday Show at New Orleans' Orpheum Theatre, and more listed below and at pjmortonmusic.com/#shows.
