On the heels of earning his sixth career GRAMMY® win and 22nd nomination earlier this year – and celebrating his birthday with special guests Stevie Wonder, Susan Carol, Ogi, J. Ivy and Ledisi at LA's Blue Note just last week – PJ Morton has returned with "Mutual." Out now on Morton Records / SRG-ILS Group, the new single marks his first of 2026, setting the table with the perfect sound for a Saturday night: R&B. But after Saturday night comes Sunday morning, and this Friday, April 10th, PJ Morton will release his second new single of the year, "Mercy," rooted in the music that has equally shaped his life, journey and story: Gospel.

Listen to "Mutual" via Morton Records / SRG-ILS Group, pre-save "Mercy," and stay tuned for much more to be announced soon.

"I took some time last year to get inspired about new solo music," says PJ Morton. "I've been fortunate enough to create in so many different spaces. This year I want to explore all of those fully with no limits."

After a recent series of releases with Angelique Kidjo, Moonchild, Darrel Walls, La Reezy, Netflix, Dr. Seuss and more, "Mutual" and "Mercy" showcase the many multitudes that together make PJ Morton uniquely PJ Morton: a singer, songwriter, producer and preacher's kid born, raised and based in New Orleans; a 6x GRAMMY®-winner and 22x GRAMMY® nominee; an unmatched performer who has played everywhere from church services to the Super Bowl Halftime Show; the head of his own record label and the longtime keyboardist of Maroon 5; a trusted collaborator of Stevie Wonder, Erykah Badu, Jon Batiste, Nas, Lil Wayne, JoJo, Jill Scott and countless others; and the first Black composer to ever write an original song for a Disney attraction, who has made an album across four African countries, published a memoir, and continues to defy expectations while straddling the tensions of music and faith, race and culture, expression and identity.

Produced by PJ Morton, both "Mutual" and "Mercy" were recorded at his own Studio In The Country, the historic 20-acre campus in rural Bogalusa, Louisiana, where Stevie Wonder, Dr. John, The Neville Brothers, The Meters, Trent Reznor and Willie Nelson have all made classic records, and which Morton is now working to preserve.

Following upcoming performances at French Quarter Festival, Atlanta Jazz Festival, AFRAM Festival and the Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre, PJ Morton will also make his solo debut at Rock in Rio this summer. Find the current list of dates here.
