Sold-Out U.S. Album Release Party Planned For May 22 At New York's Sultan Room

Prateek Kuhad is celebrating the one year anniversary of his Elektra Records debut album 'The Way That Lovers Do' today, sharing a deluxe release of the collection with eight never-heard bonus tracks. The artist deemed "India's most popular singer-songwriter" (GQ) previewed the set last month with his studio version of live staple "Hopelessly," and today returns with a trove of unreleased gems digging deeper into the world of 'The Way That Lovers Do.' One standout from the album's deluxe release is an alternate version of Prateek's original "Bloom," featuring guest vocals from Indian-American R&B standout Raveena. Recorded while both artists performed at India's inaugural Lollapalooza earlier this year, Prateek reflects that Raveena "came over to my home in New Delhi and we talked for hours over tea - after which she took about 15 minutes to write the prettiest verse on 'Bloom.'"

The deluxe version of 'The Way That Lovers Do' arrives on the heels of a breakout stretch for Kuhad that's seen him grace the cover of India's Rolling Stone, earn praise from Barack Obama on his famous year-end lists and play to bigger audiences than ever across continents - including his debut at Los Angeles' hallowed Walt Disney Concert Hall next year. Despite all these accolades, Kuhad's road to global acclaim was never an inevitable one - first giving songwriting a try while an international student at NYU after finding his love of artists like Elliott Smith, Laura Marling and Fleet Foxes. Discovering a natural gift for the craft after dusting off his acoustic (he was kicked out of lessons during an earlier attempt to learn the instrument), Kuhad's intimate heart-on-your-sleeve lyricism - in both English and Hindi - has turned heads around the world. Some other major moments include Kuhad becoming one of the most streamed domestic artists as Spotify launched in India, earning an "Artist To Watch" designation from NPR at his first SXSW, and seeing his music placed in pivotal scenes of top TV shows like 'Ted Lasso.'

Kuhad will announce a full run of North American tour dates soon, but next week he'll return to New York for a sold-out album release show at Brooklyn's Sultan Room on Monday May 22. The intimate performance follows Kuhad selling out the city's Irving Plaza - over five times the size - during his 2022 US run.
