Qobuz and Festival Bach Montréal/Off-Bach Return to Present Three Weeks of Classical Music Concerts

More information on the partnership HERE

Qobuz, the high-quality music platform, is partnering with Festival Bach Montréal (FBM), for the second year in a row on the annual 3-week classical music festival. The event began on Saturday, November 16th, and runs through December 8th, 2024. FBM will bring thirty-some events (paid and free concerts, public rehearsals, discussions, children's concerts, etc.) to more than 20,000 local and international festival-goers in Montreal, exhibiting a best-in-class classical music experience for music lovers. Qobuz is also a partner of Off-Bach, a free event happening in conjunction with the official festival, which includes 17 additional recitals from local Quebec artists and 6 discussions/rehearsals all free of charge running from November 26th to December 3rd.

For the 2024 edition of Festival Bach, Qobuz will continue the mission of providing a premium music experience to audiences both online and in-person. As part of the partnership, Qobuz will spotlight FBM through a specially curated playlist that will be featured on Qobuz’ homepage and classical genre page for five days across North America. In conjunction with the festival, Qobuz will feature an artist-focused playlist each week to showcase standout performers from this year’s lineup. As a sponsor of the OFF-Bach festival and the exclusive sponsor of the Festival Bach opening night concert and cocktail party, a Qobuz activation will stand at the event, where they will host a dedicated space to engage directly with attendees, all in support of elevating classical music enjoyment in the highest quality.

Festival Bach Montréal is just one of the many music-first partnerships Qobuz has forged this year, including collaborations with The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, UK, Sam First Records in LA, Audio Expo North America (AXPONA), the renowned Jazz label ECM, the Chicago-based indie label International Anthem, and more, to deliver the ultimate music experiences for its dedicated community of listeners.

"We're thrilled to continue our partnership with Festival Bach Montreal this year, who have done an incredible job at celebrating timeless music both in live performances and through 24-bit Hi-Res streaming. Qobuz is honored to deliver this unparalleled music experience to classical music fans," says Dan Mackta, Managing Director of North America and Northern Europe at Qobuz.

“Qobuz provides a unique opportunity to extend the reach of this amazing festival across North America and beyond. This partnership will allow outstanding local and international talent a chance to be heard in the highest possible quality,” says Alexandra Scheibler, artistic director of the Festival Bach Montréal.

About Festival Bach Montréal

Created in 2005, by Alexandra Scheibler, Festival Bach Montréal has become a fixture for major national and international performers of Bach’s music. The first edition of Festival Bach Montréal attracted 3,500 people, and since then over the past 15 years has grown, exponentially, to over 20,000 participants each year. Festival Bach Montréal consistently brings together outstanding artists from across Canada and from abroad and has become one of the most popular classical music events. FBM’s primary mission is to share performances by world-renowned soloists, ensembles, and orchestras who excel in Bach’s repertoire. In addition to established artists, the Festival also supports and promotes up-and-coming Canadian talent. The festival reaches out to the local community through educational activities, multicultural experiences, and accessible, affordable events that specifically serve the interests of a culturally diverse, urban population.

All of Bach-Académie de Montréal’s programs (Festival Bach Montréal, OFF-Festival Bach, Orchestre Festival Bach Montréal, it’s Children’s Concert program) serve as catalysts for a renewed appreciation for classical music within the Montréal community, with accessible events reaching broad and diverse audiences.

With the goal to provide access to established as well as new audiences alike to traditional works, Festival Bach Montréal has concentrated on innovation in classical music concerts. The Festival consistently strives to find alternative ways in which to showcase this repertoire, be it through atypical concert spaces, through its producing and commissioning as well as new distribution channels.
