May 14, 2024 – High-quality music streaming and download platform, Qobuz, has announced a partnership with The Great Escape festival in the UK – a collaboration that further supports new music discovery and emerging talent from around the world.
Taking place between 15th – 18th May this year, The Great Escape in Brighton has fast-become a “feast of discovery” for music industry talent scouts. Thanks to Qobuz, a platform credited for its devotion to highlighting an eclectic range of artists, both established and up-and-coming, the partnership opens further opportunities for grassroots talent to break into the mainstream.
Throughout the weekend, Qobuz will be hosting two separate events as a part of the main festival programme:
The first, taking place at the Leonardo Promenade Waterfront Lounge on 17th May between 2-4PM, is the Qobuz Catch Up Networking Event, which will give attendees the chance to mingle with the Qobuz crew and fellow music industry professionals.
This is ahead of an anticipated artist showcase at Komedia on the 18th between 12-4PM. Featuring a series of intimate live sessions from artists across the UK, the showcase is a sought-after opportunity to put a diverse selection of UK-based artists in the spotlight at one of the festival’s most iconic venues.
Artists set to perform include Teeside-based math rock band, Dartz, the highly acclaimed Brixton trio returning to the festival for the second year in a row, Alien Chicks, alongside rising Irish alt-pop artist, Chubby Cat and, headlining, fast-rising Manchester solo artist, Phoebe Hall.
With Qobuz continuing to take important steps in supporting and maintaining the global live music scene, this showcase follows hot on the heels of its highly successful Qobuz Sessions at SXSW in Austin, Texas. Here, the partnership saw four live performances professionally recorded and produced in end-to-end Hi-Res and released as exclusive EPs.
“We’re incredibly excited to be contributing to the growing influence of The Great Escape in the UK and beyond,” added Qobuz Managing Director for North America and Northern Europe, Dan Mackta.
“Following the success of our SXSW Sessions earlier this year, we wanted to continue our commitment to emerging artists and festivals around the world. There is nothing quite like The Great Escape, so it felt fitting we take the opportunity to give artists an additional platform to learn, progress and perform across what promises to be a fantastic weekend of live music.”
As the first place to see some 500 showcased artists across 30 intimate venues across the city before going on to headline major festival stages, The Great Escape has become known as Europe’s own SXSW. Through Qobuz, which elevates musicians and artists through its ‘boutique in a superstore world’ approach, The Great Escape’s already impressive line-up will benefit from the platform’s commitment to quality and quantity.
Timings for the Qobuz Great Escape Sessions are as follows on May 18th at Komedia.
12:15 : Dartz
13:15 : Alien Chicks
14:15 : Chubby Cat
15:15 : Phoebe Hall
