Rolling Stone Partners With D’Addario To Recognize New Generation Of Guitar Heroes

New York, NY - April 30, 2014 - For more than 45 years, Rolling Stone has celebrated guitar heroes like Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton. In an effort to welcome a new generation of players, Rolling Stone has partnered with guitar string manufacturer D'Addario to identify up-and-comers with the potential to become the next class of guitar legends.

Rollingstone.com will launch an entirely new editorial franchise called Young Guns dedicated solely to celebrating new talent. The list, curated by Rolling Stone's top editors, will feature thirty notable players, introducing one new artist each week. The artists highlighted will be profiled and interviewed and viewers will be able to experience their inspiring performances via video and audio clips. Additionally, seven of these musicians will be chosen to participate in a D'Addario-sponsored jam session with guitarist Matt Sweeney; a robust video component that will also be posted within the Young Guns hub.

The first artist to be profiled is Nashville-guitarist Guthrie Trapp, whose online tribute is now live at RollingStone.com, and additional guitarists will be celebrated throughout the thirty-week program: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/guthrie-trapps-true-grit-20140428

"Rolling Stone has always provided a platform for great emerging talent," says Chris McLoughlin, Publisher of Rolling Stone. "D'Addario has spent centuries giving artists the musical tools to be their best. We believe our brands together can bring exceptional new musicians to the forefront."

The program officially launched on April 28th and marks the first partnership between D'Addario and Rolling Stone. The hub will be displayed as a channel on the Rollingstone.com homepage and will be updated regularly with custom content by Rolling Stone editors.

The Young Guns launch also coincides with D'Addario's latest innovation - the NYXL. The NYXL is the strongest electric guitar string ever made and available now. A launch event will take place May 1 at 6 p.m. at the Carle Place Guitar Center on Long Island, featuring performances by the first featured Young Gun Guthrie Trapp as well as Vernon Reid, Oz Noy, Robben Ford, and Alex Skolnick.
