Today, Roosevelt is delivering a pure taste of sonic joy aimed squarely at the forthcoming Valentine’s Day holiday with his new song “Lovers”. With this track, Roosevelt (aka Marius Lauber) wanted to capture a snapshot of freefalling into young love, citing The Cure’s “Friday I’m In Love” as an inspiration for the heartbeat of the song, bolstered by effervescent production and charming animated synths.

It’s the latest cut off Roosevelt’s forthcoming album ‘Polydans’ which will drop February 26, 2021 (via City Slang / Greco-Roman) and will serve as an undeniable feast for electronic music fans, offering a cornucopia of perfectly blended musical styles, instrumentation and passion.

Of the track, Marius said it “was the very last track I finished for the new album. It's always relatively easy for me to get a sense of what is missing on an album, when most of the tracks are already finished. This time, it felt like almost all of the other tracks had very syncopated rhythms, influenced by funk guitars and house chords. With 'Lovers', I wanted to make something really different, a very pure love song that has a super straight and simple four-to-the-floor beat and bass line. It's a song about the naivety and pureness of falling in love. I listened to 'Friday I'm In Love' by The Cure a lot while I was making the record and wanted to capture that innocent ode to falling in love.”

Roosevelt teased the variety to be found on ‘Polydans’ throughout the past year when he released album cuts “Sign” which Billboard said “balances 80s-inspired synth, disco, driving beats and cinematic textures into a musical amalgamation that simultaneously manages effervescence and heft,” the follow-up “Echoes” which Stereogum described as a “strobe-lit and expansive cut that locks into an insistent groove and periodically explodes into bright colors,” and Earmilk called a “groovy space disco offering”, “Feels Right” whose hilarious video was debuted by Brooklyn Vegan who praised the song as “bouncy, blissful pop”, and “Strangers” which he promoted with an ingenious performance via SPIN where he tripled himself to perform the track as a literal one-man band.

“It felt incredibly liberating to realize that I’m in a position now to go to the studio everyday and just do the music that feels right,” he says. “In this respect, ‘Polydans’ is my most personal album yet, as there hasn’t been any creative limitations – I just did what made me happy."
