Sam Lee To Bring “Beautifully Retextured” (NPR Music) Songs On Road With Patty Griffin This Fall, In

Following a North American headlining tour behind a "startlingly original" (The Guardian UK) new album that left audiences mesmerized, Sam Lee is coming back to the United States "to scour away people's preconceptions about folk music" (NPR). The Mercury Prize-nominated Lee will open a number of dates for Patty Griffin, including a performance at the Town Hall in New York City. Lee released his US debut 'The Fade In Time' in June, and it has already garnered critical acclaim for his ability "to push the music to new places and bend it in new ways" (Boston Globe).

Sam Lee's modernist recreations of British folksongs of yore are the very intersection of curation and innovation. He exudes a supple charisma on every track, mining these ancient songs for the deep-rooted emotions that drive them.

Sam Lee will be joined on the road by his band, including Jon Whitten on Mongolian dulcimer/ukulele/Jew's harp, Flora Curzon on violin, and Josh Green on percussion. Tour dates below.

Praise for Sam Lee and 'The Fade in Time'

"I'm head over heels for the work of London-based singer and "song collector" Sam Lee, who's made it his life's work to find and learn the music of the Roma and Irish Traveler communities in the UK and then to perform them with gorgeously framing textures." -- Anastasia Tsioulcas, NPR Music

"Startlingly original...surely one of the albums of the year." -- The Guardian UK

"Outstanding...there's never been a record quite like this." -- Mojo

"'The Fade In Time' presents an artistic wanderer with a deep reverence for the British folk tradition, an ear tuned to the broader world's rhythms, and a restless heart...a great talent who promises to find new ways to keep us singing the old songs well into another century." -- PopMatters
