Multiple GRAMMY-winner Sarah Jarosz has shared “Orange and Blue” from her eagerly-anticipated new album World On The Ground, out June 5 on Rounder Records. “Orange and Blue” was co-written by Jarosz and producer John Leventhal (Rosanne Cash, Elvis Costello), a pair that has amassed eight GRAMMY Awards between them. As with much of World On The Ground, the new song illuminates the inner lives of small-town characters caught between the desire to escape and embrace home.

“Orange and Blue” is an impressionistic reflection on Jarosz’s childhood home, nestled against the tree-canopied banks of Cypress Creek in Wimberley, Texas (pop. 2.626). Led by a dreamlike piano, the song conjures a vivid portrait of digging into the earth to “find a heart that’s so buried it’s almost impossible to find.” Jarosz’s novelistic attention to detail and spare, elegant arrangements make “Orange and Blue” a prime example of Texas songwriting at its finest.
World On The Ground’s lead single “Johnny” was released last month and praised by Rolling Stone as a “timely and tantalizing … inner battle with the forces of wanderlust and inertia, freedom and stability.” Other fans include Brooklyn Vegan, which called it “a lovely piece of literate folk-pop,” and Paste, which named “Johnny” its Song of the Week.
Sarah Jarosz is a three-time GRAMMY winner, as a solo artist and as a member of I’m With Her. The 28-year-old multi-instrumentalist was first nominated for a GRAMMY at age 18 for her 2009 debut and has released three solo records since, the most recent being 2016’s Undercurrent.
