Scarypoolparty Tackles the Dark Side of “Paradise” in new video (out now)

Today (4.8), Scarypoolparty shares his new video for “Paradise.” Directed by Juliana Carpino (Halsey, Bebe Rexxa, Bazzi) and shot all in 48fps, the video pulls the curtain on the not-so-glamorous side of living in LA, from not being able to afford rent, to losing yourself in the superficiality, to the disease of addiction that many of its residents suffer from.

From the outside, a lot of people think of LA as this paradise,” Scarypoolparty explains, “but living here, you see a lot of people hurting, a lot of people in pain that no one wants to talk aboutI really wanted to make a video that puts you in a spot of not knowing what’s real and who’s who. Juliana Carpino really brought the idea to life for the song.

“Paradise” is just one of the character studies of his hometown that Scarypoolparty presents on his new EP, LOS ANGELESMTV calls the four-track project “a cold, metallic Queen of the Damned soundtrack filtered through the warm lights of his home, Los Angeles... [it] captures what it's given him: the emotion, the part-time jobs, the long talks, the longer drives, and every moment in quarantine.” The EP is his most accessible collection yet. He was stylistically able to lean into more pop-focused structures while still channeling signature trap-infused, classical bravado. Available everywhere now, the EP has already been praised by Alternative Press, Paste, Rock Sound, Grimy Goods, and KTLA, and saw instant adds to Spotify’s All New Rock and Et Alt playlists, Apple Music’s New in Alternative and The Nerve playlists, and Amazon Music’s Breaking Alternative.
