Today, in honor of its 25th Anniversary and an ongoing mission to aid every homeless family in Bloomington, Indiana, Secretly Canadian has released a special new recording from Phoebe Bridgers. For the latest installment of the charitable SC25 Singles series, the singer, songwriter and founder of fellow Secretly Group label Saddest Factory Records shares a previously unheard rendition of "Chinese Satellite." Tracked live at Los Angeles' Sound City Studios, the acoustic arrangement reimagines a sweeping standout from Bridgers' multi GRAMMY-nominated Punisher LP.

"Chinese Satellite" (Live From Sound City) marks #20 of 25 planned singles for SC25, following contributions from Secretly artists, friends and collaborators like Bartees Strange, Bright Eyes, Current Joys, DJ Python, Goose, Hatchie, Jim James, Madison McFerrin, Porridge Radio, Skullcrusher, Stella Donnelly, Tasha and others unveiled over the past year. Like each element of the expansive SC25: Every Light On This Side Of The Town campaign, all net proceeds from the song will contribute to Secretly Canadian's $250,000 fundraising goal for local non-profit organization New Hope For Families, the only place in Bloomington and the greater Monroe County where families with children can find shelter together, inclusive of all sexual orientations and gender identities.

In addition to SC25 Singles and a nearly sold-out collection of SC25 Editions - which featured limited edition vinyl reissues of 12 beloved Secretly Canadian albums by ANOHNI, Faye Webster, Songs: Ohia, The War on Drugs, Tig Notaro, Whitney and more - the SC25 initiative recently extended to a partnership with outdoor apparel and culture brand, Topo Designs. With shared values of utility, sustainability and inclusivity, the two companies teamed up to release a limited edition, navy and red Rover Pack Classic rucksack. In its rise from a Bloomington basement into "one of the most respected independent labels in the world" (Variety), Secretly Canadian has not only developed an indispensable catalog of music, but an abundance of stories waiting to be told. As part of its 25th Anniversary celebrations, the entire Secretly Group recently came together to launch the first season of a brand new podcast, Secretly Society. From multipart documentaries to quiz shows and beyond, the series provides a new platform to the voices that define the history of Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar, Saddest Factory Records and Secretly Canadian, offering first-person perspectives on listeners' favorite records, and a few they might have missed over the years.

The SC25 campaign will continue through April, with much more music and partnerships on the way. There are currently a reported 334 unhoused people in Bloomington, including 81 children and 34 families, and with Secretly Canadian's donation New Hope For Families can build a housing unit to serve 20 families in a year (800 families in its 40-year lifespan), or provide services to 40 families for the full duration of their time with the shelter.
