Congratulations to Eight Secretly Leaders Represented on Billboard's 2021 Indie Power Players

Jagjaguwar & Secretly Canadian Celebrate 25th Anniversaries Throughout 2021, Focusing Efforts on Collaboration & Community

 

Secretly congratulates artists Angel Olsen, Bonny Light Horseman, Gabriel Garzón-Montano, Khruangbin and Phoebe Bridgers, as well as affiliated record labels Dead Oceans, Jagjaguwar and artist collective 37d03d, who earned a total of seven Libera Awards at last night's ceremony. Bridgers and Dead Oceans won across multiple top categories, including Record of the Year (Punisher), Best Alternative Rock Record(Punisher) and Best Live/Livestream Act, while Olsen's Jagjaguwar-released Whole New Mess took home Best Folk/Bluegrass Record, Bonny Light Horseman scored Best Americana Record for their self-titled 37d03d debut, Gabriel Garzón-Montano's Agüitaachieved Jagjaguwar's first victory for Best Latin Record, and Khruangbin's Dead Oceans-backed Mordechai received Best Outlier Record

Between Dead OceansJagjaguwar and fellow Secretly Group label Secretly Canadian37d03d, Secretly partner Ghostly International and Secretly Distribution, Secretly entered the 2021 Libera Awards with a collective, company-wide 19 nominations. Spanning rock, americana, folk, hip-hop, latin, R&B and beyond, Secretly was represented across 15 of a total 30 Libera categories. Their nods also included Breakthrough Artist (Bonny Light Horseman), Independent Champion (Secretly Distribution), Label of the Year (Medium, Ghostly International), Marketing Genius (Phoebe Bridgers' Punisher), Best Punk Record (Secretly Canadian's Porridge Radio) and more. Secretly Distribution extends additional congratulations to its label partner Western Vinyl for their win in Best Classical Record (Erik Hall's Music for 18 Musicians), as well as Memory Music/Run For Cover and Sacred Bones for their respective nominations in Best Rock Record and Label of the Year (Medium).

The 2021 Libera Awards mark the third time in a decade that Secretly has exceeded a dozen nominations, and another historic slate of achievements for the international, independent music ecosystem, which also includes The Numero GroupSecretly Publishing and a global network of 150 employees. 

As a highlight of A2IM's Indieweek conference, the Libera Awards are the largest celebration of independent music in the country. Ahead of this year's event, Billboard revealed its list of 2021 Indie Power Players, "the executives to watch - at labels, distributors and associations - who have weathered the pandemic and ignited the success of artists on the charts, unconstrained by the major-label system."

Throughout 2021, Jagjaguwar and Secretly Canadian are celebrating their 25th Anniversaries with special initiatives focused on collaboration and community. Jagjaguwar's JAG25 campaign is centered around a four-part series called Jag Quarterly, featuring contributions from Bon Iver, Lonnie Holley, Moses Sumney, Mary Lattimore, Perfume Genius, Ross Gay, Sharon Van Etten and many more. SC25 - Every Light On This Side Of The Town aims to aid every family experiencing homelessness in Secretly Canadian's hometown of Bloomington, Indiana, with a number of new projects supporting a $250,000 fundraising goal for local organization New Hope For Families
