Sesame St. Meets David Lynch in “NYC prodigies” (i-D) The Shacks’ New Video

Today, garage-psych group The Shacks unveil their eccentric, backyard-bred video for "Left It With The Moon," a "sweet singalong that simultaneously recalls 'Sesame Street' and David Lynch's nocturnal crooners" (i-D).

Check it out over at i-D.

As the piece notes, the founding pair of "NYC prodigies" - Shannon Wise (vocals/bass, 19) and Max Shrager (guitar, 21) - share a storied musical history, steeped in the buried techniques of classic soul and timeless pop. Max spent his past seven years immersed in the world of Daptone Records, backing late greats Sharon Jones and Charles Bradley through international tours and earning credits on Naomi Shelton records.

But since Shannon's inimitable vocal technique and songwriting chops extended their friendship from high school jazz band to a Queens, NY, recording studio, the now four-piece has traversed the country supporting the likes of Chicano Batman, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Lee Fields & The Expressions, and Khruangbin.

You may recognize Shannon's striking style and haunting whispers from a new iPhone ad, however, The Shacks are set for an even bigger breakout in 2018.
