In her transformation from train-hopping vagabond to viral sensation, Sierra Ferrell has honed her spellbinding style of storytelling in trailer parks, dive bars, truck stops and everywhere in between. In a new profile that aired on CBS Mornings, she opens up about the remarkable path it has taken to now becoming "one of country and roots music's most fascinating and fastest-rising artists" (Rolling Stone). As correspondent Anthony Mason shows, "the only thing more amazing than her voice is her story."
Watch the full piece from CBS Mornings, where she discusses growing up in West Virginia, hitchhiking, running wild and busking on street corners, seeing the other side, landing in Nashville and coming into her own.
Trail of Flowers marks Sierra Ferrell's first new album since 2021's Long Time Coming, and since then she has become one of the moment's most in-demand musicians. She has collaborated with Zach Bryan, Diplo, Margo Price, Shakey Graves and The Black Keys, been covered by Kelly Clarkson, and shared stages with Dave Matthews, Lana Del Rey and Nathaniel Rateliff. She earned Emerging Artist of The Year at the 2022 Americana Honors & Awards, sold out all her live shows in 2023, and is reaching far greater heights in 2024.
Leading up to Trail of Flowers, she made her national TV debut on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and sold out two nights at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium. She returns to the road with two sold-out shows at LA's Fonda Theatre this week, followed by more of her biggest headline performances to date, and a series of stadiums, amphitheaters and arenas she is about to play with Zach Bryan, The Avett Brothers and Mitski. Praise For Trail of Flowers
"One of country and roots music's most fascinating and fastest-rising artists...an album that wants to connect us to the land, to our history, and to each other"
Rolling Stone
"[Trail of Flowers] finds the singer a lifetime away from her peripatetic origins. However, the free spiritedness of her music — an uncommon blend of old-time bluegrass, country, ragtime, folk and jazz, anchored by her powerhouse vocals that by turns recall Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton and Bessie Smith — remains largely the same"
Los Angeles Times
"Enthralling...Sierra Ferrell has long been on the move, but this collection stands to stick around"
Wall Street Journal
"An impressively powerful step forward"
Esquire
"Ferrell is already on the fast track to queenliness, if not godhood, among roots enthusiasts...she'll be the one to unite the jam-band crowd, string-band people, singer-songwriter enthusiasts, Gram Parsons-loving country-rockers, hippies, hillbillies and anyone who just likes good, hooky songs"
Variety
"She is just a very welcome presence in Americana music, and she's so musically literate across many genres and generations"

"One of Americana, bluegrass and country's most talented artists"
Billboard
"Americana's next big star"
Garden & Gun
"Who else is doing it quite like Sierra Ferrell these days? With her transportive, anachronistic vocals and homegrown songwriting style, the alt-country artist feels like she exists in a dreamy world of her own"
Consequence
"Every song on Trail of Flowers has its own distinct musical palette or its own stylistic juxtapositions—in short, its own reason to exist"
SPIN
"She feels a more assured bet than ever before to surpass more remarkable pinnacles of success"
The Tennessean
"Among Ferrell's many gifts is her ability to tap into and embody the rich nuances of what the character in a song is singing about"
Nashville Scene
"Ferrell's fullest, most expansive album to date, one fit with songs sure to fill the many thousands-strong arenas that the 35-year-old will soon be gracing...It's moments like these that ensure Ferrell's star will only continue to rise"

Saving Country Music
"It's become apparent how much of a force she is both in soul and sonics"
