Sets From Label Artists Including Caleb Elliott, Duquette Johnston, Rock Eupora, Speckled Bird, The Pine Hill Haints And The Prescriptions
Single Lock Records, the "for-musicians, by-musicians" (Billboard) Southern American music label, has announced an official SXSW showcase highlighting their renowned roster of artists; taking place on Tuesday March 15 from 8PM-2AM at Austin's hallowed Continental Club. Among the Single Lock artists performing that night will be Birmingham, Alabama's Duquette Johnston, whose first album in nearly a decade The Social Animals comes out on the label next Friday February 25. He'll be joined by the "sizzling licks" (Rolling Stone) of Florence, Alabama's Pine Hill Haints, as well as Nashville acts Rock Eupora and The Prescriptions (who'll each be releasing new albums on Single Lock later this year), plus Louisiana's Caleb Elliott and Muscle Shoals' own Speckled Bird. The six act bill spans genres and generations, but come together to represent the finest in Southern American music.
The trip to SXSW comes on top of a banner 2021 for Single Lock, who notably garnered three nominations for their artists at the upcoming GRAMMY Awards: Best American Roots Song for the Blind Boys of Alabama, Best Traditional Blues Album for Mississippi's Cedric Burnside and Best Regional Roots Album for New Orleans' modern-day Mardi Gras Indian collective Cha Wa. The label also began releasing music through a worldwide partnership with Secretly Distribution, announced their first-ever expansion beyond Muscle Shoals with the opening of a New Orleans office and launched Thousand Dances, an artist management sister company. Maintaining a focus on community above all, Single Lock also established the Advocacy Fund for Alabama Musicians, which provides no-strings-attached COVID-19 relief grants to artists throughout their home state. In Austin, they'll be celebrating all this and more while shining a light on everything still to come.
