Brooklyn Bowl -- called "New York City's mecca of bowling, food and entertainment" by the New York Observer -- will host a number of stand-out events in June including official Governors Balls parties featuring Kurt Vile and The Violators, Washed Out, and Classix, two live-band performances by Talib Kweli and two nights of Dark Star Orchestra.
Dark Star Orchestra - Mon, June 2 & Tue, June 3 The preeminent Grateful Dead tribute band "takes its act to a level of detail that befits a rock band famous for its fanatical following" (Associated Press). Often recreating the precise stage positioning, equipment, musical arrangements and set lists of entire Grateful Dead concerts, Dark Star Orchestra have played more than 2,300 shows over the last seventeen years, nearly as many as the seminal group they honor performed over the course of their 30 year history (shows: 8:00 pm, admission: $25).

Governors Ball Presents: Official Kickoff Party with Kurt Vile and The Violators - Thu, June 5 Brooklyn Bowl will host three official Governors Ball parties. The first features acclaimed guitarist and singer Kurt Vile, whose guitar playing NPR said "reaches Mark Knopfler heights" on his most recent LP. A founding member of The War On Drugs before launching his solo career in 2008, Vile has earned esteem for his songwriting and guitar playing and drawn comparisons to Leonard Cohen, Tom Petty and Neil Young (show: 9:00 pm, admission: $20).

Governors Ball Presents: Official After Party with Washed Out - Fri, June 6 Ernest Greene -- better known by his stage name Washed Out -- is a chillwave pioneer and member of what Vulture called "the micro-genre's holy trinity." Described as "impossibly gorgeous pop" by Rolling Stone, Greene's song "Feel It All Around" is the hypnotic theme song to Fred Armisen's 'Portlandia' (show: 11:30 pm, admission: $15).

The group -- comprised of childhood friends Michael David and Tyler Blake -- had their breakthrough in 2009 with single "I'll Get You" and have remixed songs for Passion Pit, Phoenix, Major Lazer, the Ting Tings and more (show: 11:30 pm, admission: $15).

About Brooklyn Bowl:
Brooklyn Bowl is the ultimate night out, with its groundbreaking integration of premiere music, 16 lanes of bowling, a bar featuring locally crafted beers, and food by the acclaimed Blue Ribbon restaurant group. Located in the beautiful, 19th-century Hecla Iron Works building, the venue -- aka "rock and roll heaven" (Village Voice) -- boasts a sound system and amenities that "no other local rock club can offer" (The New York Times). Brooklyn Bowl recently opened its London outpost at The O2 (a "wonderland of food, drink, music and pins" - London Evening Standard) and Las Vegas in The LINQ, Caesars Entertainment's open air district in the center of the world famous Las Vegas strip.
Serving award-winning beer from the adjacent Brooklyn Brewery, Brooklyn Bowl is as committed to locally made products as it is to environmental sustainability -- it's the first L.E.E.D.-certified bowling alley in the world. And the food? "Epic," says Eater. In other words, Brooklyn Bowl's unprecedented combination of top-flight music, bowling, beer and food is "like nailing a spare on a four-ten split" (The New Yorker).
