Talkhouse – home to shows like SubwayTakes, How Long Gone, Alison Roman'sSolicited Advice, That's How I Remember It with Craig Finn, This Is TASTE, Life of the Record, Jokermen and more – has appointed Laura Mayer to the position of Head of Podcasts. Mayer last served as the Executive Producer of Podcast Programming at ABC News, where she led the podcast division's exponential audience growth over the last year. Talkhouse's hiring of Mayer coincides with its recent success with SubwayTakes, How Long Gone and, most recently, Fela Kuti: Fear No Man – the Jad Abumrad-helmed series, which Talkhouse produced for Higher Ground. The show recently reached #2 on Apple's Top Series charts, and was named the #1 Best Podcast of 2025 by The New Yorker. As Head of Podcasts at Talkhouse, Mayer will focus on taking Talkhouse further into video (building upon the company's existing video presence with SubwayTakes and the newly announced A View From A Bridge), while also continuing to produce best-in-class, audio-only narrative series, and always-on conversation shows. "I have been a fan of Laura Mayer for quite awhile now," said Ian Wheeler, Co-Founder and Publisher at Talkhouse. "She is without a doubt one of the most innovative people to ever work in podcasting. We are so incredibly lucky to have Laura join our team. She is a creative force, a wonderful person, and will be a major driver in helping our roster of brilliant artists and weirdos take over the world." "I've been listening to Talkhouse's podcasts for a long time," said Laura Mayer, Head of Podcasts at Talkhouse. "How Long Gone has been a daily driver for me since it launched. I'm thrilled to join the team to help Talkhouse build on their success and authenticity." |
