Today (10.24), home chef, cookbook author, and founder of the popular blog “The Chutney Life,” Palak Patel releases her debut cookbook, The Chutney Life: 100 Easy-to-Make Indian-Inspired Recipes. Published by Abrams Books and available wherever books are sold, the book’s 100 (mainly vegetarian) recipes are a tribute to the nostalgic foods that author Patel grew up eating in her South Asian household in Philadelphia, PA.
Dedicated to her mother, her cookbook is the perfect blending of her own Indian-American heritage. Filled with anecdotes, love notes to Patel’s favorite kitchen tools, and many time-saving tips, Patel curated this book to offer recipes and techniques that capture the influence of Indian cooking and present them in an accessible, attainable, and delicious way for any home cook.
By embracing the magic that happens when flavors collide, Patel’s food transcends continents and cultures, fusing traditional Indian staples with quintessential “American” dishes. Recipes like her Samosa Grilled Cheese, Spaghetti Squash Masala, Chana Masala Minestrone & Coconut Curry Noodle Soup, and Vegetable Enchiladas with Poblano Cream Sauce combine jam-packed flavor with the comfort of home cooking.
To celebrate the release, The Chutney Life Book Tour kicks off today October 24th in Short Hills, NJ. The tour will feature a tasting of one of Patel’s favorite recipes from the book and a book signing. The tour sold out its initial tickets in mere hours, and Patel recently released more tickets + added additional dates (see the full schedule below).
