New Original Single Written By “Brandy”
Hitmaker Elliot Lurie (Looking Glass)
“Ooh Whee (That Doo Wop Song)” Out Now
October 10, 2025 – Today, America’s premier doo wop group The Doo Wop Project releases their new full-length album, Echoes of the Street via Joy Machine Records. The album marks a new chapter for the five-man vocal powerhouse — Broadway veterans Charl Brown, Dwayne Cooper, John Dias, Russell Fischer, and Dominic Nolfi — as they bridge doo wop’s golden-era harmonies with modern pop, soul, and theatrical flair.
Alongside the album comes their first-ever original song, “Ooh Whee (That Doo Wop Song)” written by the frontman and songwriter Elliot Lurie, frontman of Looking Glass and writer of the timeless hit “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl).”

“Elliot told us that he spends an hour or so a day listening to new music on Spotify and found us there,” says musical director and producer Sonny Paladino. “He loved our fresh take on a nostalgic sound and knew he had the perfect song for us. He sent it over, we made some arrangement tweaks to fit our voices, and with a little back-and-forth, we’re all really happy with how the collaboration turned out.”
On the collaboration, Elliot Lurie shares: “I was listening to Spotify when a track came on that stopped me in my tracks. It was doo wop—a sound I grew up with and have always loved—but reimagined with a fresh, modern twist and incredible vocals. I looked up the artist, discovered The Doo Wop Project, and immediately dove into their catalog. Around that same time, I had written a new song, ‘Ooh Whee,’ as a tribute to the doo wop music of my youth. I sent them a demo, hoping it might resonate. I was truly honored and thrilled when they decided to record it for their new album—and I absolutely love what they’ve done with it.”
Echoes of the Street marks the group’s fifth full-length release and pays homage to the roots of doo wop while reimagining modern classics for a new era. Produced by Sonny Paladino for Joy Machine Records, the quintet recorded 12 tracks for Echoes of the Street, spanning R&B classics, pop smashes, and musical theater favorites. This eclectic repertoire speaks to the group’s versatility and dynamic approach. From faithful renditions of The Temptations’ “My Girl” and The Del-Vikings’ “Whispering Bells” to playful “doowopified” versions of Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” and Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky,” the album captures the spirit of the stoop — where timeless melodies meet modern rhythm.
Inspired by the musical energy of cities historically tied to doo wop—New York, Detroit, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Newark, and Philadelphia—Echoes of the Street serves as both a celebration of the genre’s past and a harbinger of its future. The album reflects the group’s mission to keep doo wop alive by reintroducing its timeless style to audiences of all ages.
To celebrate the release, The Doo Wop Project recently headlined a special album release show at Sony Hall in New York City on October 7th, featuring an evening filled with classics and debut performances from the new record. Throughout the rest of 2025, they will entertain audiences on the road with their brand new 90-minute show—also named Echoes of The Street—touring North America through 2025 and beyond.
