"The First Couple Of Americana" (MOJO) Debut LP Out Today, Headlining Tour & NPR Weekend Edition Next Month

In a New Yorker article this week, writer Jamie Malanowski describes how the debut album from "virtuoso instrumentalist" Larry Campbell and "hidden treasure" Teresa Williams (out today) fulfilled a dream neither knew they had. And in a print feature on Friday, the Wall Street Journal delved deep into their roots, describing how city boy Larry first fiddled his way into Teresa's tiny Tennessee town: http://shorefi.re/1JYFxTz

As Larry told the New Yorker about their work together, "the thing keeps expanding." Last week he sat in with The Roots on The Tonight Show and last month he and Teresa performed four songs on one of the final Imus in the Mornings. The pair will next appear on NPR Weekend Edition on July 4 before launching a headlining tour of the south and Midwest, including dates in Chicago (7/15) and Nashville (7/22-23). They also just announced a third month of dates opening for Jackson Browne – and playing in his band – this fall. Go here for complete tour dates: http://bit.ly/1K6XssL

Press Praise for 'Larry Campbell and Teresa Williams':

"A powerhouse country, blues, gospel and honky-tonk singer [meets] a maestro of Southern roots music." - Wall Street Journal

"Passionate, eloquent, spilling over with regal harmonies...channeling Emmylou and Gram." - Uncut (9/10 stars)

[On] the astonishing cover of Rev. Gary Davis’s "Keep Your Lamp Trimmed and Burning," Williams’ fervent, insistent warning of the coming judgment withholds nothing, and should become part of the official soundtrack for any apocalypse that may be on the way." - New Yorker

"44 minutes of roots music gold. American roots fans take note, this album will still sound as fresh and bracing in a decade as it does now." - All Music

"Shows off a lifetime of devotion to American music and a mastery of capturing it with the soul of the thing intact." - Nashville Scene

"A beautiful disc that is way too long overdue." - No Depression

"The first couple of Americana...we're in the presence of pros." - Mojo
