“There’s Never Been A Record Quite Like This” (Mojo): Ancient Folk Song Recast On Sam Lee’s ‘The Fad
North American Tour Starts 7/18

Today, Mercury Prize-nominee and "Britain's most inventive folk singer" (London Evening Standard) Sam Lee releases his US debut 'The Fade In Time' on Thirty Tigers. Sam has also finalized dates for his North American tour in July, including New York at Joe's Pub on July 30th.

Guided by the Scottish Traveller singer Stanley Robertson, Sam Lee's modernist recreations of the British folksongs of yore are the very intersection of curation and innovation. The ornate orchestrations of 'The Fade In Time' hint at Beirut's worldly indie and modern classical, while Sam exudes a supple charisma on every track, mining these ancient songs for the deep-rooted emotions that drive them.

The Guardian UK says 'The Fade In Time' is "surely one of the albums of the year" while the BBC deems it "adventurous and remarkably varied." Earlier this year, NPR Music named Sam Lee the "big revelation" of GlobalFEST 2015 and Folk Alley called him the "Alan Lomax of Gypsy music." MOJO says "This outstanding record deserves a wide hearing...there's never been a record quite like this."

Recorded over the course of three months at Imogen Heap's Hideaway Studio in Essex with Arthur Jeffes and Jamie Orchard-Lisle serving as co-producers, 'The Fade In Time' is a part of Sam Lee's dedication to folk music, as he is also the driving force behind the eclectic, award-winning folk club The Nest Collective, which has brought traditional music to all kinds of new stages and venues.

Sam Lee and Friends -- including Jon Whitten on Mongolian dulcimer/ukulele/Jew's harp, Flora Curzon on violin, and Josh Green on percussion -- are setting off on a North American tour in July. Tour dates below.
