Trixie Mattel Serves A Smash With “C’mon Loretta”

Trixie Mattel Serves A Smash With “C’mon Loretta”

New Track & Video Out Now - LISTEN / WATCH

Today, Trixie Mattel has dropped her latest track “C’mon Loretta”, an ode to the legendary country icon which feels like an amped-up jolt of garage rock adrenaline with an equally inspired music video. The latest cut off of Trixie’s forthcoming double LP ‘The Blonde & Pink Albums’, set for an early June release via PEG Records, “C’mon Loretta” hints at the sunny & spirited rock to be found on the collection.

The video for “C’mon Loretta” was directed by Assaad Yacoub and was partially inspired by the legendary Billie Jean King “Battle of The Sexes” tennis match of 1973. WATCH HERE.

“I wanted this song to be a fun little ditty, like The Strokes-meets-the story of Loretta Lynn,” said Trixie. “For the video, I really wanted to give a nod to women’s tennis, something I discovered and fell in love with on a very hungover day. Sometimes the best ideas come from a hangover!”

Inspired by Trixie’s fascination with duality, specifically the juxtaposition of her glamorous, serious side with her fun-loving, carefree side, ‘The Blonde & Pink Albums’ will usher in a new sonic era for the beloved chart-topping folk turned plugged-in alt rock superstar. Previous album track release “Hello Hello” was praised by Esquire who said it “meets at the crossroads of surf and garage rock, echoing the addictive, shout-til-you-drop hooks of West Coast music titans the Go Gos,” while Rolling Stone named follow-up single “This Town” (a heartaching collab with Shakey Graves) a “song you need to know [with] fingerstyle guitar parts recalling Musgraves’ breakout song as well as John Prine’s work.”

Elsewhere on the album finds Mattel stripping down the iconic The Go-Go’s’ classic “Vacation” to its haunting, melancholic center, while elsewhere collaborating with her longtime musical idol Michelle Branch, and overall on the double LP embracing the dynamic power of writing sugary rock tracks with unexpectedly dark origins. ‘The Blonde & Pink Albums’ will showcase the musical evolution of an artist who has not only broken down boundaries within the music world, but also the mainstream pop culture universe.

Trixie recently partnered with Fender, worked with Integrity Toys to release the “Trixie” doll, was nominated for a Critics Choice Award for her “One Night Only” comedy special, announced a second book with her comedic partner Katya, and appeared as one of the judges for the hit Paramount+ Queen of the Universe singing competition alongside Michelle Visage, Leona Lewis and Vanessa Williams. These accomplishments alone showcase an artist who has not only a near-limitless arsenal of talents, but an unshakeable ambition to take over the world.

The RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars-winner’s past musical releases have been praised by NPR, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Consequence, NME, Paper, Nylon and more. The drag legend has also blossomed within the worlds of cosmetics (her self-started Trixie Cosmetics company regularly releases quick-to-sell-out new items), blogging (the GOOPED newsletterwith Katya via Substrack), writing (Trixie and Katya's Guide to Modern Womanhood was a NY Times Best-Seller), podcasting (The Bald and The Beautiful is a Queerty Award-winner), digital content creation (her multiple web endeavors recently won her an American Influencer Award), television (her forthcoming “Trixie Motel” renovation show is currently in production for a 2022 season via discovery+), and live performance (she is currently on the road as part of the Trixie and Katya Live tour).
