ABOUT BROOKLYN BOWL (WILLIAMSBURG):
Brooklyn Bowl was founded in 2009 by music entrepreneurs and co-owners Peter Shapiro and Charley Ryan, who previously partnered at Manhattan’s famed club Wetlands Preserve. Wearing its homegrown values on its sleeve, Brooklyn Bowl is as committed to locally made products — serving award-winning beer from the adjacent Brooklyn Brewery — as it is to environmental sustainability; it's the first LEED-certified bowling alley in the world (and serves only paper straws). And the food? "Epic," says Eater. In other words, Brooklyn Bowl's unprecedented combination of top-flight music, bowling, beer, and food is "like nailing a spare on a four-ten split" (The New Yorker). Additional Brooklyn Bowl venues are located in Las Vegas and most recently, Nashville.
ABOUT ROCK AND ROLL PLAYHOUSE:
The Rock and Roll Playhouse is a national concert series for families where kids can “move, play and sing while listening to works from the classic-rock canon” (NY Times). The Rock and Roll Playhouse was founded in 2013 at its flagship venue, Brooklyn Bowl, by Peter Shapiro, entrepreneur and co-owner of the Bowl and owner of The Capitol Theatre, and Amy Striem, a certified Early Childhood and Elementary teacher, who were looking to create opportunities for families to experience live music together in historic music venues. The Rock and Roll Playhouse shows use music from the most iconic musicians in history to inspire the next generation of children. Its core audience of kids under 10 explore their creativity dancing to live music from curated local bands, listening to stories and playing interactive activities. With over 200,000 concert attendees and 1,000 shows to date, The Rock and Roll Playhouse hosts concerts in 35 venues across 28 cities. The program has donated to the Can’d Aid Foundation’s Tunes Programs, VH1 Save the Music Foundation, and Keep the Music Alive, as well as ticket donations to local school fundraisers and auctions.
