June 8, 2026 — French-Lebanese trumpeter/composer and two-time GRAMMY nominee Ibrahim Maalouf has shared “BRING THE LIGHT,” the final preview of his forthcoming album Trumpets of Michel-Ange II out this Friday. Maalouf brings together a staggering lineup of Jon Batiste, Trombone Shorty, Pedrito Martinez, Anthony Evans & His Gospel Choir, Weedie Braimah and MonoNeon for a piece that ignites with ecstatic energy. The sounds of Cuba and New Orleans have had a profound impact on Maalouf, and he sees many parallels between the musical culture of these places and in his homeland of Lebanon. Where music “is not something you just listen to - it’s something you live, something you share physically.”

Maalouf will also return to tour North America for the first time in two years starting next week. The June 19-July 1 run includes the Montreal, Toronto and Blue Note (NYC) Jazz Festivals, The Troubadour in Los Angeles, and the FIFA Fan Fest concert in Vancouver on June 25. Maalouf also recently announced his biggest headlining concert ever: he will celebrate 20 years of live concerts at the 40,000 capacity Paris La Defense arena in April of 2027 (the largest arena in all of Europe). He has previously headlined the Accor Arena in Paris three times. Full concert itinerary here: https://www.ibrahimmaalouf.com/en/accueil/concerts/

Trumpets of Michel-Ange II bursts with an essential feeling of joy and is a thrilling new addition to a catalog of work that explores his musical roots while fusing them with the sounds of nearly every continent. It features an internationally acclaimed cast of musicians, including Cuban pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Palestinian vocalist Nai Barghouti, Indian flautist Rasika Shekar, French accordionist Richard Galliano, and Brazilian mandolin virtuoso Hamilton de Holanda. The album was recorded with an ensemble of trumpeters trained on the rare four-valve instrument designed by Maalouf’s father to play the quarter tones central to Middle Eastern music. Its artwork, by Dutch actor and painter Timor Lukacs, reimagines a 1925 photograph of Maalouf’s grandfather’s fanfare in the Lebanese mountain village where Maalouf was born. A continuation of a new musical series that Maalouf embarked on in 2024, the first installment of Trumpets of Michel-Ange, led to a performance on KEXP and an interview with NPR’s 1A. Maalouf has previously been featured in the New YorkerNew York TimesNPR and performed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

While preparing for the release of his new album, Maalouf has been busy. The “Sexy for You (Remix)” with Jason Derulo and Kevin Gates is out now, and on April 28, he unveiled “ECHO,” an official song for the FIFA World Cup. Maalouf composed the song and is a producer on the track, and it features reggaeton icon Daddy Yankee and Jamaican superstar Shenseea. A bold reimagining of his track “Red & Black Light,” “ECHO” is a stadium-ready anthem as the World Cup draws closer.

About Ibrahim Maalouf

Born in war-torn Lebanon and raised in France, Ibrahim Maalouf attended the Conservatoire de Paris and earned a reputation as one of the modern era’s most promising young classical trumpeters with wins at a string of prestigious international competitions. Unsatisfied with the strictures of classical music, Maalouf began using his quarter tone trumpet to craft an innovative, cross-cultural sound, one that would eventually establish him as a household name in France, where he’s been dubbed a Knight of the National Order of Merit and a Knight of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres. Praised as a “virtuoso” by The New York Times, Maalouf has to date released 21 critically acclaimed albums and performed in more than 40 countries; sold out arenas from Paris to Istanbul; been invited into the inner circle of legendary producer/composer Quincy Jones; raised millions for charitable causes; and collaborated with everyone from Wynton Marsalis and Jon Batiste to Josh Groban and Sting to A$AP Rocky and Angelique Kidjo. In the last few years alone, Maalouf , has earned back-to-back GRAMMY nominations, composed the score for legendary French director Claude Lelouche’s latest film, served on juries at Cannes and the Deauville American Film Festival, performed at the Hollywood Bowl alongside Stevie Wonder, John Legend, and Jacob Collier, and played for an audience of six million in front of the Eiffel Tower on Bastille Day.
