March 30, 2026 // The Miles Davis Estate and Park Avenue Artists are pleased to announce The Voice of Miles: A Symphonic Celebration, a bold new live orchestral experience launching in celebration of Miles Davis’ centennial. The series premieres May 26, 2026—Miles’ 100th birthday—at National Sawdust in BrooklynWatch a trailer for the series here.

The Voice of Miles transforms the acclaimed documentary Miles Davis: Birth of the Cool into an immersive, live orchestral event. Featuring Miles’ original, isolated live trumpet performances alongside new orchestrations, the program invites audiences to experience the sound and story of a singular genius who reshaped jazz—and modern music—through fearless reinvention. Film excerpts and live performance interlock in real time, creating a cinematic concert experience that places Miles himself—heard and seen in performance—at the center of a newly expanded symphonic landscape, as his unmistakable trumpet voice is surrounded by the power and sweep of a full orchestral sound.

The May 26 premiere at National Sawdust marks a fitting moment for the centennial year. Known for adventurous programming and designed for deep listening, National Sawdust’s intimate room and state-of-the-art spatial sound system offer an ideal setting for a project that treats sound itself as storytelling—honoring Miles not as a monument, but as a living, evolving force.

National Sawdust, a mecca for music and the arts housed in a 100-year-old former sawdust factory in Williamsburg, is the ideal setting for this production. The venue commissions and presents cultural programming rooted in sound, fiercely valuing experimentation and innovation to support the needs of the 21st-century artist. This performance will utilize National Sawdust’s state-of-the-art spatial sound system, one of the only directional approaches to sound in New York City, to provide a uniquely immersive experience for the audience.

Following the National Sawdust premiere, The Voice of Miles will continue with additional configurations of the show, with presentations to be announced soon.

This premiere serves as one of the pillars of Miles Davis 100, an ambitious global celebration spearheaded by the Davis Estate and global independent music company Reservoir (Nasdaq: RSVR) to honor the visionary artist’s ever-expanding impact on music, fashion, and global culture. Reflecting the imagination, excellence, and fearless reinvention that defined Davis’ life, the centennial encompasses a vast array of multidisciplinary projects, including the forthcoming feature film Miles & Juliette, starring Damson Idris and Anamaria Vartolomei, and a new Centennial edition of Miles: The Autobiography published by Simon & Schuster. Archival milestones include landmark reissues such as the first physical release of The Complete Live at the Plugged Nickel 1965 in three decades, while high-end lifestyle collaborations feature a national Lexus commercial, an Off-White™ Fall/Winter 2026 “Mr. Davis” collection—which recently premiered at Paris Fashion Week to translate Davis’ radical artistry into a special capsule—Miles-themed apparel from John Varvatos, and a co-branded Centennial cigar from Ferio Tego. This global tribute further brings his legacy to life through international tours by M.E.B. (Miles Electric Band) and special curated programming at premier institutions including the Montreux Jazz Festival Switzerland, Montreux Jazz Festival Miami, Big Ears Festival, SFJAZZ, and more.

About Miles Davis

Miles Davis (1926-1991) fundamentally reshaped modern music across five decades of relentless reinvention. From pioneering bebop and cool jazz to defining hard bop, modal improvisation, and electric fusion, Davis treated each genre breakthrough as a starting point rather than a destination. His discography reads like a timeline of jazz's evolution: Birth of the CoolKind of Blue (the best-selling jazz album of all time), Sketches of Spain, In a Silent Way,Bitches Brew, and dozens more albums that continue to define both the essence and the outer limits of improvised music.

Davis's genius extended beyond composition and performance. His studio innovations with producer Teo Macero established templates for modern music production. His ensembles functioned as talent accelerators, launching the careers of John Coltrane, Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Chick Corea, and countless others who would themselves become legends. His influence spans generations: he remains one of the most sampled artists in hip-hop, with his recordings serving as foundations for Kendrick Lamar, Madlib, and A Tribe Called Quest.

His accolades include eight Grammy Awards, a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, eleven recordings in the Grammy Hall of Fame, induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, stars on both the Hollywood and St. Louis Walks of Fame, and a Congressional resolution honoring Kind of Blue's 50th anniversary in 2009.

Beyond music, Davis established himself as a style icon (#1 on GQ's Most Stylish Musicians of All Time), visual artist (paintings exhibited across four continents), and symbol of artistic independence. In 2012, the U.S. Postal Service honored his legacy with a commemorative stamp, cementing his status as an American cultural monument.
