Zacchae’us Paul Sets Off For The Jazz Money Tour - Bringing Jazz Into The Next Generation

New Album Jazz Money Out June 21 Via Candid Records

“Biggest Surprise” (New York Times) Of Winter Jazzfest 2024

Zacchae’us Paul recently announced his upcoming album, JAZZ MONEY, set to be released on the renowned jazz label Candid Records on June 21. Starting today, June 5th, Zacchae’us will embark on the JAZZ MONEY TOUR, with dates in NYC, Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and beyond. For tickets and more information, click here. Additionally, Zacchae’us will be performing on select dates with Melanie Charles. Zacchae’us’ music offers a fresh take on jazz, skillfully blending Atlanta hip-hop, gospel, and Caribbean rhythms. Influenced by his upbringing in Atlanta and his studies in Puerto Rico, Paul creates a sound that is both youthful and thoughtful.

Listen to early selections from the album including the ebullient "BANANA LAFFY TAFFY" with its lush piano and vocal textures, is an ode to the underdog, banana, what Paul believes is the most "underrated" flavor of Laffy Taffy. "MAMA SAID" a heartfelt dedication to the extraordinary Black women who have shaped Paul’s life, and "BETTER DAYZ" an emotionally powerful song that navigates through the turbulence of lost love and personal growth, all the while holding onto the hope of a brighter future.

MORE ON ZACCHAE’US: Zacchae’us Paul began his musical journey in his childhood home studio, influenced by his step-father and church experiences. His passion for jazz was sparked by discovering Duke Ellington, leading him to study music in Puerto Rico. He has performed with notable artists like Terri Lyne Carrington, Melanie Charles, Henry Cole, and Saunders Sermons, all featured on his album "Jazz Money." Earlier this year, Zacchae’us was highlighted by Giovani Russenello of the New York Times as an artist to watch after a standout performance at Brooklyn’s Baby’s Alright during NYC Winter Jazzfest. Zacchae’us is part of the new generation of Candid Records artists, alongside Milena Casado and Morgan Guerin, guided by A&R consultant Terri Lyne Carrington. The relaunched label, with four Grammy wins since 2021, continues its legacy as a significant American independent label from the 1960s.

MORE ON CANDID RECORDS: From 1960-1963, founder, A&R man, and producer Nat Hentoff recorded over 30 extraordinary albums for the Candid Records label.  One cannot underestimate the breadth of these recordings - from bebop to the avant-garde, to blues.  Candid sat dormant for years until Black Lion Records founder and producer, Alan Bates, bought the label in 1989. The next phase of Candid Records is happening now.  Since its relaunch in 2021 the label has reissued over 30 titles to high critical acclaim. Thanks to brilliant new releases, Candid has received four GRAMMY® awards – 2024 winners the Count Basie Orchestra, 2023 winners Terri Lyne Carrington and Wayne Shorter, and 2022 winner Eliane Elias. Today’s Candid is not only committed to its legacy but looks forward to defining its future with the quality music that is synonymous with its elite heritage.  Learn more at www.candidrecords.com
