About Chris Thür:

Co-founder and CEO of Yousician Chris Thür is the co-founder and CEO of Yousician, the world's largest music learning and playing platform. With over 20 years of experience in science, technology, and business, Thür is on a mission to make musicality as common as literacy. Motivated by his personal struggles with traditional music learning methods, Chris and his co-founder, Mikko Kaipainen, founded Yousician in 2010 in Helsinki, Finland. Their vision was to make music education accessible and engaging for everyone. Under Chris’s leadership, Yousician has won over 30 international awards and prizes, including being named 3 times as one of WIRED's Top 100 European Startups, being selected twice by Apple Editor’s Choice as the best App, and winning the Best of 2016 Google Play Award in the self-improvement category. Originally from Switzerland, Chris left his home country at the age of 24 to gain international experience in Australia and the United States before settling in Finland. He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering and a master's degree in management. As a prominent figure in the Finnish startup ecosystem, Chris shares his expertise as a speaker, advisor, and angel investor. In his leisure time, he is dedicated to transforming a rundown cabin in the Helsinki archipelago into a sustainable, self-sufficient home, and he enjoys playing the piano for his daughter. Chris’s personal achievements include receiving the Entrepreneur of the Year award in the Born Global category by Ernst & Young in 2018 and representing Finnish Business at the Northern Future Forum.
