Billy Gibbons, Big Freedia, Antemasque and Goldfish Hit Brooklyn Bowl In November

Brooklyn Bowl — called “New York City’s mecca of bowling, food, and entertainment” by the New York Observer — will welcome two of Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” - ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons and Robert Randolph - as well as “the Queen of Bounce,” Big Freedia, to the stage as part of their November lineup.  

Dean Ween - Sat, Nov 1
Led by former Ween guitarist, Mickey Melchiondo, The Dean Ween Group is getting ready to kick off their winter tour, and Brooklyn Bowl is the band’s second stop.  The band, which is comprised of Dave Dreiwtiz on bass, Joe Kramer on guitar, and Ray Kubian on drums will bring their “streaming guitar” to the stage at Brooklyn Bowl (show: 9:00 pm, admission: $15).

Goldfish  – Sat, Nov 1 
Hailing from South Africa, Goldfish are a breath of fresh air in a scene saturated with pre-mixed shows and mysterious button pushing.  The multi instrumental duo have made it their goal to re-invent the concept of a DJ, mixing live sax, double bass, keyboards, and pounding house beats to take their live performances to the next level and capture audiences across the world (show: 12am, admission: $12-15).

Antemasque - Sat, Nov 8
Comprised of Red Hot Chill Peppers’ bassist Flea, and former The Mars Volta/At The Drive-In frontman Cedric Bixler-Zavala and guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Antemasque has been dubbed a “rock semi-super group” by SPIN and praised for their “speedy drums and buzzy guitar riffs."  While it has yet to be given a definitive release date, the band’s self-titled album is rumored to be coming out before the end of the year (shows: 9:00pm, admission: $20).

Billy Gibbons - Tue, Nov 11
ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons needs no introduction.  As one of the finest blues-rock guitarists to ever emerge from Texas, Billy has earned his title as a “guitarist to be reckoned with” and his spot on Rolling Stone’s "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” list.  The rock legend will hit the stage at Brooklyn Bowl for a special solo performance (show: 8pm, admission: $30).

Big Freedia - Fri-Sat, Nov 21-22
Big Freedia, known as the Queen of Bounce, is at the forefront of the Bounce rap movement (a subgenre of hip-hop born out of New Orleans and known for its call and response style and lightening speed booty-shaking dance).  With a new album, ‘Just Be Free,’ and performances at festivals such as Bonnaroo, SXSW, and Electric Forest under her belt, Big Freedia is ready to bring her “nearly perfect” (Pitchfork) style and dazzling live performance to Brooklyn Bowl for two nights (shows: 12am, admission: $15-20).

Escort - Sat, Nov 22
Dubbed “the pinnacle of 21st-century disco” by Pitchfork, Escort will bring their extravaganza of a performance to the stage at Brooklyn Bowl.  As described by the New York Times, Escort - led by singer Adeline Michéle and founders/producers Eugene Cho and Dan Balis - "has become one of the city’s tautest live acts, the stage overflowing with as many as 17 musicians, including horn and string sections and a chorus of female singers” (show: 8pm, admission: $20).

Robert Randolph and The Family Band - Tue-Wed, Fri-Sat, Nov 25-26, 28-29
Robert Randolph and the Family Band is an American funk, blues/rock and soul band led by pedal steel guitarist Robert Randolph and accompanied by drummer Marcus Randolph, bass guitarist Danyel Morgan, vocalist Lenesha Randolph, keyboardist and guitarist Brett Andrew Haas, and one of three rotating rhythm guitarists: Joey Williams of Blind Boys of Alabama, Adam "Shmeeans” Smirnoff and Cousin Ray-Ray.  Robert, who was named one of Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” will bring his “upbeat tempo” and “great guitar riffs” to the stage at Brooklyn Bowl for four nights in November (shows: 8pm, admission: $15-20).
