2023 JUNO Opening Night Awards Presented by Music Canada: Andrew Phung & Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe to Co-host the Annual Music Celebration

The renowned industry event will feature live performances by nominees Devon Cole, Dylan Sinclair, Jean-Michel Blais, The Bearhead Sisters and a special In Memoriam collaborative performance from Corb Lund, The Sadies and Shannon Johnson streaming on CBC Gem and cbcmusic.ca/junos on March 11

 
 

The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (CARAS) announced today The 52nd Annual JUNO Opening Night Awards Presented by Music Canada will be held at the Edmonton Convention Centre on March 11, 2023. The revered ceremony brings the music community together and will livestream at 6 p.m. MT/ 8 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 11 via CBCMusic.ca/junosCBC Gem and CBC Music’s FacebookTwitterTikTokand YouTube pages.  

Co-hosted by Andrew Phung (CBC’s Run the Burbs and Kim’s Convenience) and Angeline Tetteh-Wayoe (CBC Music’s The Block), the exclusive industry event will feature the presentation of more than 40 JUNO Awards, celebrating the nation's best and brightest musical voices and talent. The ceremony will also recognize this year’s Special Award Recipients including the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award (Ron Sakamoto) and The MusiCounts Inspired Minds Ambassador Award (Broken Social Scene’s Kevin Drew), presented by CST Foundation.  

Audience members in Edmonton will be exhilarated with performances from Alberta pop songstress Devon Cole (Breakthrough Artist of the Year Presented by FACTOR, The Government of Canada and Canada's Private Radio Broadcasters), R&B sensation Dylan Sinclair (Contemporary R&B Recording of the Year Presented by CBC Music, Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year), post-classical piano icon Jean-Michel Blais and storied sister trio from Paul First Nation (Treaty 6), The Bearhead Sisters (Traditional Indigenous Artist or Group of the Year). Corb Lund along with The Sadies (Adult Alternative Album of the Year Presented by Long & McQuade Musical Instruments) and Shannon Johnson from The McDades (Traditional Roots Album of the Year) will share the stage for a special collaborative performance during the in memoriam presentation.

The 52nd Annual JUNO Awards and JUNO Week 2023 will take place in Edmonton, AB  from Thursday, March 9 through Monday, March 13, 2023, culminating with The JUNO Awards Broadcast, which will air live across the country from Rogers Place in Edmonton at 8 p.m. ET/6 p.m. MT on CBC TV, CBC Gem, CBC Radio One, CBC Music, CBC Listen, and globally at CBCMusic.ca/junos and CBC Music’s FacebookYouTube and Twitterpages.
