Furthur Featuring Phil Lesh And Bob Weir, confirms 8-Night Run At The Capitol Theatre

Following a sold-out run by Phil Lesh & Friends and an acclaimed solo performance by Bob Weir opening week, The Capitol Theatre will host both Grateful Dead icons onstage together when Furthur hits the newly-reopened rock palace this spring. The band will play an eight-night stand April 16, 17, 19, 20, 21, 23, 24, and 25. In addition to Lesh and Weir, Furthur features Jeff Chimenti, John Kadlecik, Joe Russo, Sunshine Becker, and Jeff Pehrson. Tickets go on sale today at noon via http://www.thecapitoltheatre.com and http://www.furthur.net

"It's no secret that the Grateful Dead loved playing at the Capitol Theatre," says the band's archivist David Lemieux. They performed there 18 times in 1970-71 alone. In a recent interview with CBS This Morning, Bob Weir said The Cap "was always at the top of the list because we knew we were going to have a good night. That's what we lived for." Jerry Garcia once said, "There's only two theaters…that are set up pretty groovy all around for music – The Fillmore East and the Capitol Theatre."

In a nod to its legacy, The Cap recently hosted a crowd of 1,000 fans for "A Dose of The Dead," in which the theatre presented a complete, unreleased concert recorded live at the theatre in 1971, played in its entirety through their state-of-the-art sound system at full-concert-volume and accompanied by visual effects from their concert lighting rig.

ABOUT THE CAPITOL THEATRE:
Designed by celebrated architect Thomas Lamb in 1926 and listed in The National Register of Historic Places, the theatre is located approximately 30 miles from NYC, conveniently accessible by I-95 and only one block from the Port Chester Metro North train station. In its distinguished history, the 1,835-capacity theatre has hosted concerts by the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Derek and the Dominos, Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, David Bowie, Santana, Black Sabbath, Iggy Pop, and many more. Following a transformative renovation under the guidance of music entrepreneur Peter Shapiro (Brooklyn Bowl, Wetlands, Relix, U2 3D), the theatre reopened as a rock palace on Sep 4, 2012, with a performance by Bob Dylan and has since hosted everyone from Al Green and My Morning Jacket to Sleigh Bells and Morrissey. The New York Times raved, "a rock theater that looks and sounds as good as the Capitol is something to celebrate," while Billboard agreed that "the lavishly decorated theater -- filled with mirrors, chandeliers and painstakingly restored detail -- looks absolutely stunning, and sounds even better."
