Lyte Partners With Mint Talent Group As More Top Artists Sign On To Use Proprietary Reservation Technology
Artist-centric approach to ticketing and talent representation charts new course for post-COVID touring business
Lyte -- the reservations technology platform reimagining e-commerce for artists, fans and live events -- has announced their first partnership with an artist booking agency, Mint Talent Group. Artists from Mint Talent Group are signing on to implement the solutions Lyte offers to address touring uncertainty caused by the pandemic, creating the ability for fans to reserve tickets risk-free for events not yet on sale. The announcement arrives on the heels of significant developments for Lyte, including a Series B round of $38 million, the supercharging of its executive team and recent launches in Australia and New Zealand.
An initial group of thirty artists represented by Mint Talent Group are implementing Lyte’s groundbreaking technology across hundreds of potential shows - with more acts signing on each week. Involved artists cover a diverse range of styles and fan bases, including Taj Mahal, Angel Haze, The Soul Rebels, Helmet, Carla Morrison, Shemekia Copeland, Mersiv, Neal Francis, Trevor Hall, Jaimoe and more. The entire list of participants is below.
Concert-goers have long been forced into inconveniently timed on-sales just to compete with other fans, automated ticket-buying bots, and professional scalpers - only to find the tickets they want are no longer available. And due to an industry standard “no refunds” policy, once fans do have tickets but their plans change, they are forced to become amateur ticket scalpers. Though the first concert tickets were sold online a generation ago, there has been no ticketing e-commerce experience tailored to the unique needs of fans. Until Lyte.
Under this deal, fans of Mint Talent Group artists choose the market and tickets they are interested in and use their credit card to secure a flexible reservation that can be changed or cancelled at any time. When tickets that match their reservation criteria become available, orders are fulfilled, in partnership with venue ticketing platforms. Fans get flexibility and convenience, artists get demand signals from markets around the world, and agents and their promoter partners get the insight they need to route tours intelligently, with lower risk.
"Mint exists to put artists first and we recognize kindred spirits in Lyte, who has a team dedicated to giving us the tools we need to get our artists back to work safely and with winning economics,” said Patrick McAuliff from Mint. “By capturing fan demand before we launch a tour, we can now have a true metric of demand at a specific moment to help book an artist in the right venue using scientific precision. This will only improve outcomes for everyone involved - buyer, seller, artist and fan."
“This is a milestone deal at the vanguard of a post-COVID touring business,” said Lawrence Peryer, Lyte’s Chief Strategy Officer. “In this new world, Lyte is facilitating closer relationships between artists and fans and giving superstar agents like those at Mint the tools to truly partner with promoters in a meaningful, sophisticated way.”
