Music and sports stars unite in PSA asking voters to “Un-mute Yourself”

The spot – created by Wasserman – promotes voter registration and features Sydney Leroux, Jai Wolf, Marisa Moseley, A-Trak and more

The film reflects the nonpartisan HeadCount effort to register voters and in advance of the November midterms

Artists and sports figures unite in a new :60 public service announcement featuringHeadCount, the nonprofit, nonpartisan organization that works to register voters and promote participation in democracy. Their message to young voters is simple: you can’t afford to mute yourself.

Featured sports figures include soccer players Zack Steffen and Sydney Leroux, basketball coach Marisa Moseley, NFL player Alex Highsmith and ESPN host Charly Arnolt. Musical artists featured include Jai Wolf, A-Trak, Lane 8, Kill the Noise and Frenship. The PSA’s simple, impactful execution, wherein voices actively unmute themselves, is meant to drive young voters to cast their ballots and be heard this November.

The PSA can be found here on the Wasserman Music YouTube channel. The content will also run on Instagram for Wasserman and Wasserman Music, and the agency’s LinkedInand Twitter channels.

Wasserman has partnered with HeadCount as part of its own Let's Vote! campaign. The alliance seeks to encourage Wasserman staff, clients and their extended communities to understand and use the power of their vote. The collection of talent was assembled from Wasserman’s roster of music and sports clients; the work was created by Wasserman’s creative agency, Laundry Service. The spot will live across YouTube, Instagram and other social media via HeadCount and Wasserman’s channels.

We’re so grateful to our talented music and sports clients who generously donated their time to speak up on the importance of voting in all elections,” says Wasserman Director of Social Impact Denise Melanson. “Midterm voter turnout tends to be lower, and that needs to change – especially with so many issues on the ballot that are determined at a state and local level. No matter where you stand, these elections are important and their outcomes directly affect you. This collaboration of voices from across the world of music, sports and entertainment reflects how the elections are connected to culture and personal expression.”

About HeadCount

HeadCount is a non-partisan non-profit organization that harnesses the power of music, culture and digital media to register voters and inspire participation in democracy. Since 2004, we’ve registered over one million voters through our work with musicians like Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Dead & Co, Harry Styles and Megan Thee Stallion; events including Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Pride Festivals, and RuPaul's DragCon; plus partnerships with brands like Spotify, Ben & Jerry’s, and GrubHub. Our award-winning online campaigns have been seen over a billion times, while our 50,000 volunteers can be seen at more than 1,500 live events each year. We reach young people where they already are – at concerts and online – to inform and empower.
