Netta Goes From Dylan To Disney On Forthcoming EP‘The Best Of Netta’s Office - Vol. 1’ Out Dec 18
In just a year after launching her Netta’s Office performance YouTube series, Netta has accrued over 3 million total views and earned hundreds of comments for her brilliantly absurd and soulfully performed covers, leading a tidal wave of fans to ask for professionally recorded versions of some of her most memorable performances.
Today, the pop reinventor and Eurovision champ has announced a new EP that will answer this wish -- ‘The Best Of Netta’s Office - Vol. 1’ will drop December 18th via S-Curve Records/BMG, and include her renditions of the Mary Poppins staple “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”, Flo Rida’s“Low”, Eiffel 65’s “Blue (Da Ba Dee)”, Aqua’s “Barbie Girl”, Mr. President’s “Coco Jamboo”, and the EP’s first release, a cover of Bob Dylan’s legendary rallying cry for societal evolution “The Times They Are A-Changin’”.
Undeniably timely for the current state of the world, Netta’s rendition of the folk songbook staple is reimagined as only Netta can, meshing her knack for futuristic, otherworldly synth-heaven production with her soulful spirit and ground-splitting vocal delivery. Netta has also dropped the eerily poignant and metaphorical music video today, capturing numerous snapshots inside a slow-moving carwash.
“2020 was not like any other year. It introduced into our lives more change than we ever knew was possible. Violence, racism, hatred, isolation and protest - they all reached a peak, and there is a lot of sadness and pain but also a hope for fruitful grounds and something new to grow from it. I feel like we’re going through some kind of a stormy cleanse,” Netta said of the decision to release her Dylan cover today. “The world has changed. We are pointing fingers and picking fights instead of accepting and embracing this change. I was humbled to touch this song along with my musical director Avshalom, and this is what came out.”
Of the Netta’s Office Youtube series as a whole, Netta said, “During this year I wanted a direct connection to my fans and I felt like I had a lot to give. I wanted them to be my source of inspiration for this project. This is how Netta’s Office was born. Each episode is an opportunity to experiment and have fun improvising. It’s an open canvas which is not beholden to music industry “rules”, and I can be my truest self when I make them. It’s my own strange musical version of a podcast.”
Netta has become one of the trailblazing quirkpop innovators in modern music, turning the genre into a colorful funhouse of fizzy experimentation. Her song “Toy” won her the Eurovision Song Contest in 2018 and has over 147 million views on YouTube alone. It also became a runaway TikTok smash this past summer. Also over the past year, Netta dropped her ‘Goody Bag’ EP, was a guest on Switched On Pop discussing her personal journey as an artist and what it takes to make the perfect Eurovision song, performed for Billboard, and was spotlighted by Consequence of Sound who said she has “dominated stages around the world and seen her music spread like wildfire”, BUST who called her the “soulful singer creating escapist videos you didn’t know you needed” and Hey Almawho praised her as a “role model”.
