Stella Blue’s Band Celebrates 100th Show At Garcia’s With Two-Night Deadcenter Residency August 7 & 8

PORT CHESTER, NY Stella Blue’s Band will celebrate a major milestone this August, returning to Garcia’s at The Capitol Theatre for its 100th show at the venue during a special two-night DeadCenter residency on Friday, August 7 and Saturday, August 8.

The milestone marks the 100th time Stella Blue’s Band has played at Garcia’s - a venue that has been central to the band’s history and its deep connection with the local Deadhead community. The band first began its DeadCenter residency at Garcia’s on June 5, 2013, helping launch the venue’s Wednesday night series.

Over the past 13 years, Stella Blue’s Band has returned to Garcia’s time and again, building a dedicated community of fans and creating a regular gathering place for music lovers and Deadheads. The band’s 100th performance at Garcia’s will be celebrated on Saturday, August 8, with an additional DeadCenter performance on Friday, August 7.

Since Garcia’s opened as The Capitol Theatre’s lobby bar in 2013, the venue has fostered a unique community of musicians, music lovers, and Deadheads. Stella Blue’s Band stands out among the many artists who have performed there for its longstanding connection to the venue and its dedication to recreating the spirit and magic of the Grateful Dead’s live performances while fostering lifelong friendships through music and community.

The relationship between Garcia’s and the Grateful Dead legacy runs deep. On April 25, 2013, Jerry Garcia’s daughter, Trixie Garcia, christened The Capitol Theatre’s lobby bar as Garcia’s, creating a special connection to the music and legacy that continues to inspire generations of fans.

Over the course of its 100 performances at Garcia’s, Stella Blue’s Band has welcomed countless familiar faces to the venue and developed a community that feels like family. The band has also shared the stage with Grateful Dead legends Melvin Seals and Phil Lesh at The Capitol Theatre.

“Every Stella show at Garcia’s is filled with the same familiar faces,” says Josh Cohen, Garcia’s Talent Buyer. “This community of music lovers and Deadheads has become family to us. To celebrate Stella’s 100th show at Garcia’s is incredibly meaningful, and we can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with everyone who has been part of the journey.”

ABOUT THE CAPITOL THEATRE

Designed by celebrated architect Thomas Lamb in 1926 and listed in The National Register of Historic Places, The Capitol Theatre is located 30 miles from NYC, accessible via I-95 and the Port Chester Metro-North train station. The 2,000-capacity theater, known as “the original rock palace,” showcased legends such as Traffic, the Grateful Dead, Black Sabbath, Chuck Berry, David Bowie, Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd, and The Rolling Stones. Jerry Garcia called it one of his two favorite venues in the USA. In 2012, The Capitol Theatre underwent a major renovation under the guidance of music entrepreneur Peter Shapiro. Since then, it has hosted major performers including Bob Dylan, Phil Lesh, Ringo Starr, Joan Baez, Skrillex, Bonnie Raitt, Snoop Dogg, Kacey Musgraves, The Strokes, Tom Petty, Cyndi Lauper, and Willie Nelson, as well as comedians like Kevin Hart and Amy Schumer. The New York Times raves: “A rock theater that looks and sounds as good as The Capitol is something to celebrate." The Capitol Theatre also hosts private and corporate events from benefit concerts, film shoots and Bar Mitzvahs to one of a kind weddings and celebrations.
