Today— Wednesday, July 23rd — The Capitol Theatre, a cornerstone of music and culture in Westchester County, is proud to celebrate its recognition as Best Event Spaceand Best Music Venue in Westchester Magazine’s prestigious Best of Westchester 2025 awards — marking nearly 10 years of wins. 

This continued recognition is a testament to the venue’s legendary status as both a historic rock palace and a dynamic space for unforgettable celebrations. The venue was previously awarded Best of Westchester awards for Best Girls Night Out (2023) and Best Guys Night Out (2023). From hosting iconic acts like The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, and David Bowie, to modern-day headliners including Marcello Hernandez, Rilo Kiley, and Cage the Elephant, The Capitol Theatre continues to be a cultural epicenter for entertainment in the Hudson Valley. 

In addition to its legendary live music legacy, The Capitol Theatre’s event programming plays a vital role in strengthening the local community. The venue has hosted impactful fundraisers and philanthropic events such as Rock the Pink for the American Cancer SocietyThe Rye Arts Center Annual Benefit, and 914Cares’ Annual Gala featuring Blues Traveler — each bringing together nonprofit partners, local leaders, and passionate audiences under one historic roof. ABOUT THE CAPITOL THEATRE

Designed by celebrated architect Thomas Lamb in 1926 and listed in The National Register of Historic Places, The Capitol Theatre is located 30 miles from NYC. The 2,000-capacity theater, known as “the original rock palace,” showcased legends such as Traffic, The Grateful Dead, Black Sabbath, Chuck Berry, David Bowie, Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd, and The Rolling StonesJerry Garcia called it one of his two favorite venues in the USA. In 2012, the theatre underwent a major renovation under the guidance of music entrepreneur Peter Shapiro. Since then, it has hosted major performers including Bob Dylan, Phil Lesh, Ringo Starr, Joan Baez, Skrillex, Bonnie Raitt, Snoop Dogg, Kacey Musgraves, The Strokes, Tom Petty, Cyndi Lauper, and Willie Nelson, as well as comedians like Kevin Hart and Amy SchumerThe New York Times raves: “A rock theater that looks and sounds as good as the Capitol is something to celebrate." The Capitol’s inner-sanctum bar and music club, Garcia’s, was named for Jerry Garcia in partnership with his family.
