The Rock And Roll Playhouse Celebrates Mother’s Day Weekend

With The Music Of Taylor Swift, Shania Twain & The Beatles

Portion Of The Proceeds To Benefit Femme House

Tuesday, May 9 - The Rock and Roll Playhouse, a family concert series where kids and parents rock out to the classics, just announced a special run of shows over Mother’s Day Weekend benefiting Femme House on Saturday, May 13 and Sunday, May 14. Featuring the music of The Beatles, Taylor Swift and Shania Twain, The Rock and Roll Playhouse will bring family fun concerts to 14 different venues across the country. Tickets are available here.

Senior Director of The Rock and Roll Playhouse, Stephen Grybowski shares “Live music is the heartbeat of the human soul. It's truly one of the few things on earth that can unite any two people from any two walks of life, anywhere in the world. To be able to help parents share the music that they love with their children and the next generation is the best part of what I do.” When asked who has more fun, the kids or the parents? “It's really hard to compare! Children are experiencing this music often for the first time in their lives, so the beauty of that is pretty unrivaled. At the same time, it means so much to a parent to share the music that they grew up with and love so deeply with their children.”

From The Beatles, Fleetwood Mac, Phish, Dolly Parton, David Bowie, Prince, Aretha Franklin, Harry Styles, Beyoncé, Dave Matthews Band and more, The Rock and Roll Playhouse introduces the next generation to timeless music while providing kids with early music exposure and encouraging creativity. The Playhouse was founded in 2013 at its flagship venue Brooklyn Bowl by Peter Shapiro, entrepreneur and co-owner of the Bowl and owner of The Capitol Theatre, and Amy Striem, a certified Early Childhood and Elementary teacher. Designed to create opportunities for families to experience live music together in historic venues, The Rock and Roll Playhouse continues to unite families through music with hundreds of unforgettable shows nationwide as the largest national concert series for families where kids can “move, play and sing while listening to works from the classic-rock canon” (New York Times).

ABOUT THE ROCK AND ROLL PLAYHOUSE

The Rock and Roll Playhouse is the largest national concert series for families where kids can “move, play and sing while listening to works from the classic-rock canon” (New York Times). The Rock and Roll Playhouse was founded in 2014 at its flagship venue, Brooklyn Bowl, by industry pioneer Peter Shapiro, and Amy Striem, a certified Early Childhood and Elementary teacher, who were looking to create opportunities for families to experience live music together in historic music venues. The Rock and Roll Playhouse has since performed to hundreds of thousands of kids and their families in over 42 venues across 30 cities, playing music from the most iconic musicians in history to inspire the next generation of children. Its core audience of kids under 10 explore their creativity dancing to live music from curated local bands, listening to stories and playing interactive activities. The program has raised funds for the Can’d Aid Foundation’s Tunes Programs, VH1 Save the Music Foundation, The Rex Foundation, UNICEF, and Keep the Music Alive, as well as thousands of ticket donations to local school fundraisers and charity auctions around the country.

ABOUT FEMME HOUSE

FEMME HOUSE is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, fostering more equitable opportunity for women and gender-expansive individuals in the technical and behind the scenes areas of music. We are creating the future producers, mixers, engineers, DJs, artists, and executives of the industry by providing education and scholarships, cultivating community, propagating visual representation, and offering professional development opportunities. Visual representation is one of the first signals human beings synthesize as affirmation that they can do or be something. It’s also one of the driving forces behind FEMME HOUSE Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives. In 2022, we raised over $100,000 to fund our scholarship programs, provided six fellows with free gear and specialized music instruction, and doubled down on our commitment to diversifying the deck by ensuring that over half of our lineups have BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ representation.
