New York, NY: Thursday, October 24th, 2024 — Today, Kaufman Music Centerannounces three performances with The Rock and Roll Playhouse, the largest national concert series for families where kids can “move, play and sing while listening to works from the classic-rock canon” (New York Times). Featuring the music of The Beatles, Taylor Swift, and David Bowie for kids, this concert series promises to provide an enriching opportunity for children and parents to experience the music they love together, in a joyful environment, and have fun during the coldest months in New York City.
Aside from exploring their creativity while dancing to live music from curated local bands, attendees can expect complimentary healthy and delicious snacks from Daily Crunchand Lesser Evil, interactive activities for play, stories, and the opportunity to rock out. This event is ideal for kids between the ages one to seven.
Kaufman Music Center is a not-for-profit organization that is home to a K-12 public school that teaches music as the core subject, Manhattan’s largest community arts school, and Merkin Hall, an intimate 450-seat concert venue that presents some of today’s most captivating musicians.

Founded by Brooklyn Bowl owner and live music entrepreneur Peter Shapiro and led by Senior Director Stephen Grybowski, The Rock and Roll Playhouse will celebrate their 10 year anniversary this year. Within this first decade, the playhouse has performed over 1,500 shows in over 80 venues and over 25 states and counting. They’ve also recently announced a multi-album record deal with Republic Records Kids & Family Division (read more in Variety). The albums cover beloved classic rock songs, celebrating the music of The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Grateful Dead, Aretha Franklin, David Bowie, Prince, Queen, Tom Petty and more, as well as some original tunes. ABOUT THE ROCK AND ROLL PLAYHOUSE
The Rock and Roll Playhouse is the largest national concert series for families where kids can “move, play and sing while listening to works from the classic-rock canon” (New York Times). The Rock and Roll Playhouse was founded in 2014 at its flagship venue, Brooklyn Bowl, by industry pioneer Peter Shapiro, and Amy Striem, a certified Early Childhood and Elementary teacher, who were looking to create opportunities for families to experience live music together in historic music venues. The Rock and Roll Playhouse has since performed to hundreds of thousands of kids and their families in over 90 venues across 55 cities in 30 states, playing music from the most iconic musicians in history to inspire the next generation of children. Its core audience of kids under 10 explore their creativity dancing to live music from curated local bands, listening to stories and playing interactive activities.The program has raised funds for the Can’d Aid Foundation’s Tunes Programs, VH1 Save the Music Foundation, The Rex Foundation, UNICEF, and Keep the Music Alive, as well as thousands of ticket donations to local school fundraisers and charity auctions around the country.
