?uestlove, Talib Kweli, And Q-Tip To DJ First-Ever "Soul Planetarium" Night At The Capitol Theatre 9/28

Soul Beats Meets Galactic Projections In State-Of-The-Art Rock Palace
 
What happens when you combine DJ sets from ?uestlove of the Roots, Talib Kewli, and Q-Tip with the most state-of-the-art video projection system of any theatre in the country? The first-ever Soul Planetarium night at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY, this Friday night, 9/28.

To accompany each of the night's three DJ sets, the theatre will transform the newly-refurbished rock palace's walls and grand dome with stunning visuals from their ten HD cinema-quality projectors and content created by Marc Brickman (Pink Floyd, Roger Waters' 'The Wall' Tour) and the NYC-based team of Batwin and Robin. 

"Having Questlove, Talib, and Q-Tip spin on the same bill would be awesome in a small dark closet," says Peter Shapiro, who helmed the theatre's relaunch this year and produced 'U2 3D,' the first-ever live action film in the digital 3D format. "Having them each spin Friday night in a legendary rock palace-meets-next generation Planetarium should blow minds." 

This show will replace the originally scheduled performance by The Roots and Talib Kweli for that night. The Roots performed 9/7 at the theatre with special guests Bob Weir, Trey Anastasio, and Warren Haynes, and last week they closed out their 3-week residency with a performance featuring Maya Rudolph on guest vocals. 

Tickets for Soul Planetarium are $10. 

ABOUT THE CAPITOL THEATRE: 
Designed by celebrated architect Thomas Lamb in 1926 and listed in The National Register of Historic Places, the theatre is located approximately 30 miles from NYC, conveniently accessible by I-95 and only one block from the Port Chester Metro North train station. In its distinguished history, the 1,835-capacity theatre has hosted concerts by the Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, Derek and the Dominos, Janis Joplin, the Grateful Dead, David Bowie, Santana, Black Sabbath, Iggy Pop, and many more. Following a transformative renovation under the guidance of music entrepreneur Peter Shapiro (Brooklyn Bowl, Wetlands, Relix, U2 3D), the theatre reopened as a rock palace on Sep 4, 2012, with a performance by Bob Dylan.
