Washed Out, Deer Tick, Bilal And Bill Evans Hit Brooklyn Bowl In December

Brooklyn Bowl — "one of the most incredible places on Earth" according to Rolling Stone — will welcome 2015 with a six night Deer Tick residency and midnight performance on New Year’s Eve by “bedroom synthpop” (Pitchfork) artist Washed Out, as part of their December lineup.

Bill Evans’ Soulgrass - Thu, Dec 4
Bill Evans is a world-class, Grammy Award winning saxophonist and producer who made his debut on the international music scene in the 1980s with Miles Davis. Nineteen solo albums later, with credits alongside Gregg Allman, Willie Nelson, Herbie Hancock, and Warren Davis, Evans has proven his ability to adapt onstage and in the studio. Now Evans will hit the stage at Brooklyn Bowl with his most recent project - funk, rock, rhythm and groove band, Soulgrass (show: 8:00 pm, admission: $15).

Bilal - Thu, Dec 11

Anders Osborne - Fri-Sat, Dec 12-13
Between the potency of his richly detailed songwriting, his intensely soulful vocals, and his piercing, expert guitar work, New Orleans’ Anders Osborne has been dubbed "the poet laureate of Louisiana's fertile roots music scene" by Guitar World.  Osborne will bring his "fiery anthems and tumultuous confessional songs punctuated with raw, inspired guitar" to the stage at Brooklyn Bowl for two nights to perform songs off of his most recent record, 'Peace.' (shows: 8pm, admission: $20).

PopShop w/ Great Good Fine Ok and VÉRITÉ - Sat, Dec 13
Electronic Brooklyn duo Good Great Fine OK will be joined by Hype Machine #1 artist VÉRITÉ at Brooklyn Bowl.  Good Great Fine OK's whizzing, celestial synths and layered staccato rhythms will be met with VÉRITÉ's colorful alt-pop that blends vulnerable, honest lyrics with huge pop hooks (show: 12am, admission: $10).

Badfish, A Tribute to Sublime - Sat, Dec 20
As far as tribute bands go, Badfish is one of the best around.  What separates Badfish from other tribute bands is the way in which they have replicated Sublime’s essence, developing a dedicated following of fans who say that their live performances are “the most fun they’ve ever had at a show."  The key to their success is that they are not obsessed with looking like Sublime or sounding exactly like Sublime, they simply play the music with a lot of heart (show: 8pm, admission: $15).

Deer Tick - Fri-Wed, Dec 26-31

Washed Out - Wed, Dec 31
In the words of Pitchfork, "Washed Out is Ernest Greene, a young guy from Georgia (via South Carolina) who makes bedroom synthpop that sounds blurred and woozily evocative, like someone smeared Vaseline all over an early OMD demo tape, then stayed up all night trying to recreate what they heard.”  Fans of the TV series ‘Portlandia’ may recognize his song “Feel It All Around,’ which is featured in the show’s opening sequence. Washed Out, will ring in 2015, following Deer Tick’s set, and play the first show of the year at Brooklyn Bowl (show: 12am, admission: $15-18).
