About Founder & CEO, Jungmin Ashton Choi
Jungmin Ashton Choi is the founder and CEO of Fanlight, the company that has redefined the live entertainment experience for fans worldwide through its innovative products.
Choi's path to building a global technology company is as unconventional as the products he creates. Once a pro-gamer with a lifelong passion for fashion and design, he moved to the United States with minimal English but an outsized appetite for learning and an instinct for seeing possibilities others have missed. That independent perspective and passion for innovation became the foundation of Fanlight's identity — and its competitive edge.
The idea that would change live entertainment forever came to Choi at Disneyland in 2011, where while witnessing the crowd passively watching the parade, he imagined something no one had built yet: every fan with a lighted accessory moving as part of a single, massive, synchronized wireless LED canvas. Driven by the belief that technology could break the barrier between artists, brands, and their audiences, he launched Fanlight in 2012 to make that vision real.
The results were industry-defining. The 2015 SHINee Tokyo Dome concert marked Fanlight's arrival on the global stage, followed by the 2016 launch of the first wirelessly controlled K-POP light stick — a product that permanently transformed the language of fan culture. Under Choi's leadership, Fanlight has grown into a global operation with offices in Seoul, Tokyo, and Los Angeles, serving as the trusted technology and design partner for the world's leading K-POP and J-POP labels.
Now expanding deeper into the global pop industry from its Los Angeles base, Fanlight is bringing its signature blend of technical precision and emotional storytelling to a new generation of artists and fans.
"We don't just make devices; we make the bridge that connects hearts through light."
