Zeshan B/ ‘Melismatic’/ Minty Fresh Records

On May 15th, first-generation Indian-American and Muslim singer-songwriter Zeshan B will release Melismatic (Minty Fresh Records). Recorded in Brooklyn, Zeshan's debut album of original songs follows his 2017, Chicago-bred breakthrough Vetted, which featured trilingual reimaginations of American soul standards that launched him to a performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert; appearances on PBS NewsHour and Democracy Now!; praise from NPR, Rolling Stone, and The New York Times; and fans like Barack Obama and Jimmy Carter, both of whom he has serenaded. Now, Zeshan presents his own rally cries for today's moment, backed by classic grooves and the Indo-Pakistani pride he continues to belt out in English, Urdu, and Punjabi.

Nicole Atkins/ ‘Italian Ice’/ Single Lock Records

The wild magic of the Jersey Shore boardwalk has inspired musicians across generations, but it takes a uniquely distinct vision to go find that slice of regional wonder in Northern Alabama. On Italian Ice, that’s exactly what Nicole Atkins has done, taking over the hallowed Muscle Shoals Sound Studio with a one-of-a-kind band featuring members of the Bad Seeds, Dap-Kings, the legendary Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section and more.

Mild Orange / S/T

On Mild Orange, the band’s sound fills in the gaps between romance-addled dream-pop and slack indie rock, held together by playfully tangled riffs and frontman Josh Mehrtens’ earnest-yet-slightly askew perspectives on love and infatuation. Recalling acts as disparate as Mazzy Star, Jeff Buckley, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, early Coldplay, and Cuco, Mild Orange is the confident work of a band that’s building an international cult following on the back of songs that unfold like secrets shared between friends and lovers.

Keiynan Lonsdale / ‘Rainbow Boy’

Award-winning Australian singer/songwriter, actor and dancer Keiynan Lonsdale will release his highly anticipated debut album ‘Rainbow Boy’ on May 29th. Despite cutting his teeth as a dancer and actor - music and songwriting is one of his true passions, which is overwhelmingly apparent on this 14-track collection.

Co-produced and co-written by Keiynan and Louis Futon (aka Tyler Minford) over a two-year period, ‘Rainbow Boy’ is equal parts celebratory and exploratory. Equipped with a polychromatic, retro-futuristic R&B flair and his richly emotive “AMRS baritone” (GQ), the album is an “all-is-welcome” eclectic pop record for an eclectic soul. Keiynan has crafted a sonic patchwork of innovative youthful pop, using everything from exhilarating, beat-driven hip-hop motifs to harmonically lush melodies to unapologetically propel himself into the musical spotlight.
