With over 60 worldwide dates already slated for the remainder of 2018, the 22-year-old North Carolinian is on a mission to create a fresh musical experience that ties rock, blues and soul into a distinctly Southern lineage. Ben Danaher – 3rd & Lindsley (Nashville)


After wrapping up a summer on the road with Lori McKenna, Bruce Robison and Lindi Ortega, Danaher and his band host the album-release show for his debut LP, Still Feel Lucky (9/7 via Soundly Music). The performance will feature “Hell or Highwater,” written with Maren Morris, and his mix of character studies and inward revelations inspired by fellow troubadours Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell and Townes Van Zandt.

Prateek Kuhad – City Winery (NYC)


The New Delhi lush-folk artist and “one of the country’s leading singer-songwriters” (Rolling Stone India) follows his surprise cold/mess EP (Saavn Artist Originals) with a headlining full-band US tour. Kuhad has toured with Alt-J and Mike Posner in addition to selling out his own amphitheater dates in India, and NPR selected him as an “Artist to Watch” during his first SXSW.

Masego/ ‘Lady Lady’/ Independent


With this debut album fusing soul, trap, R&B, jazz, rap and dance, the globetrotting multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and producer proves that 2018 is his breakout year. The LP features SiR, FKJ, Dewayne Jackson, Tiffany Gouche and Kehlani, showcasing the many sides of “one of music’s most promising chameleons” (NPR Music) with a style that, according to Vogue, “exudes the same smooth and lavish energy that’s become his musical signature.”

Ben Danaher/ ‘Still Feel Lucky’/ Soundly Music


Born in the wake of his brother’s murder and his father passing from cancer, this debut album by the Nashville newcomer draws from pain and loss. However, he does not rely on self-pity; Danaher instead uses music to journey towards peace, growth and even joy. The album features the Maren Morris co-penned “Hell or Highwater” and a mix of character studies and inward revelations inspired by fellow troubadours Guy Clark, Rodney Crowell and Townes Van Zandt.

MC50 — Exit/In (Nashville)


Wayne Kramer, leader of Detroit’s proto-punk/hard rock band MC5, celebrates the landmark anniversary of the group’s incendiary debut album with ‘Kick Out The Jams: The 50th Anniversary Tour.’ Kramer has assembled the supergroup MC50, featuring Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Brendan Canty (Fugazi), Dug Pinnick (King’s X) and 6 ’7" frontman Marcus Durant (Zen Guerrilla).

Arlie – Bardot (LA, CA)


The Nashville four-piece plays “School Night” as part of a fall tour supporting its upcoming debut EP Wait (9/19 via Atlantic). The band has played festivals including Bonnaroo and Forecastle and shared bills with Rostam and Cold War Kids, and their classicist DIY pop already has millions of streams.

Matt Holubowski – Mercury Lounge (NYC)


Following his European tour with Ben Folds and appearances at Bonnaroo, Osheaga and Robert Smith’s Meltdown Festival, Holubowski plays one of his biggest shows yet to preview new music following his No. 3 Billboard Canada album Solitudes. Holubowski’s live band features collaborators Stéphane Bergeron (drums), Marc-André Landry (bass), Simon Angell (guitar) and Marianne Houle (cello), all bringing out the best of his starkly expressive folk and unmistakable falsetto.

Alejandro Escovedo – AmericanaFest (Nashville)


The Mexican-American punk veteran brings his international tour to the US to preview his upcoming LP The Crossing (9/14 via Yep Roc), a concept album about the American immigrant experience mirroring Escovedo’s own journey. Escovedo performs with Don Antonio, the all-instrumental Italian group that also played on the record alongside MC5’s Wayne Kramer, The Stooges’ James Williamson, Joe Ely, The Only Ones and more.

Emma Louise/ ‘Lilac Everything’/ Liberation Records/AWAL


Emma’s pitched-down vocals on lead single “Wish You Well” sets the haunting tone on the Australian songwriter’s lush, piano-driven new record. The alteration of her “effortless, naturally affecting voice” (Rolling Stone) colors the entire album in an otherworldly haze, from the swaying croon of “Falling Apart” to the horn and string-heavy “Never Making Plans Again.” Tobias Jess Jr. also makes his debut as a co-producer, who signed on after Emma cold-emailed him her demos.

Alejandro Escovedo

Alejandro Escovedo/ ‘The Crossing’/ Yep Roc


The Mexican-American punk veteran’s new concept album tells a story of two young immigrants, Salvo from Italy and Diego from Mexico, in search of the American Dream. Mirroring Escovedo’s own experience as the child of Mexican immigrants, their journey navigates cultural identity, ancestral weight, minority rights and racism as they realize they’ve arrived in a different America – one that’s not as open and free as they believed it would be. The album features contributions from MC5’s Wayne Kramer, The Stooges’ James Williamson, Joe Ely, The Only Ones and more.

Loudon Wainwright III

Loudon Wainwright III/ ‘Years in the Making’/ StorySound Records


This two-disc compendium highlights 45 years of rare and unissued music written by one of America's most enduring songwriters. The “audio-biography” features orphaned album cuts, live recordings, radio appearances and home demos that offer a never-before-seen perspective on Loudon’s public and private selves. Notable figures from Loudon’s life pop up throughout as well: Kate McGarrigle, Suzzy Roche, Bill Frisell, Van Dyke Parks, Chaim Tannenbaum, David Mansfield, Steve Goodman, George Gerdes and Wainwright children Rufus, Martha, Lucy and Lexie.

One of the world’s most respected blues guitarists releases a new 10-track concept LP exploring different aspects of female empowerment. Produced by GRAMMY-winner Keb' Mo', the album covers both autobiographical and universal statements for all women: desire and fantasy, empowerment for your craft, confronting macho-male attitudes, escaping abusive marriages and how to have a strong man as your partner.

Asleep At The Wheel/ ‘New Routes’/ Thirty Tigers


The legendary eight-piece collective reinvents itself on its first collection of new material in over a decade, embarking on a new chapter in the group’s 48-year history. The 11-track collection of country, jazz, jump blues, rockabilly, Western swing and folk offers a blend of originals, including Ray Benson’s first co-write with a band member since the ‘80s, vibrant covers and a guest vocal appearance by The Avett Brothers’ Seth and Scott Avett.

Due to popular demand, Disney’s interactive family-friendly tour extends into the fall and makes its NYC debut with two performances in one day. The Nashville four-piece has grown from the DIY house party scene to playing Bonnaroo and bills with Rostam and Cold War Kids, as well as garnering millions of streams. Now the band takes its next step with a major label debut EP. It’s a classicist take on DIY pop, from the washed-out synths of “barcelona boots” to the psychedelic ballad “too long” and the self-deprecating and tropical “tossing and turning.”

Amy Helm/ ‘This Too Shall Light’/ Yep Roc


Helm left her family studio in Woodstock, NY, for the LA studio where The Beach Boys recorded Pet Sounds – and made her most vibrant record. Helm and GRAMMY-winning producer Joe Henry pulled from decades of Americana – from Allen Toussaint to the Milk Carton Kids – writing new originals and arrangements of tributes to the late Levon Helm to create a complete portrait of Amy as an artist.

The songwriter behind 2015’s BMI Country Song of the Year (Brett Eldredge’s “Beat of the Music”), several No. 1 singles and music by Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Maren Morris and more supports Scotty McCreery on the winter ‘Seasons Change Tour.’ The Nashville by way of Richardson, TX “creative force” (TIME) makes a name for herself as she plays music from her debut album, Borrowed Heart (10/5), including lead single “Your Hurricane.”

The 20-year-old identical twin sister duo of Brianne and Alanna Finn-Morris makes its LA debut for “School Night,” a weekly music showcase for rising talents. The Nashville singer and “master songwriter” (Parade) – as well as one of the most-synced women in commercial music – plays one of her first full-band shows to perform tracks off her feminine-empowering new album, Helen of Memphis (Milkglass Creative). Billboard has praised Stroup for her “silky, captivating vocals,” and her most pop-leaning record yet was partially produced by SUPERCOOKIES (Kendrick Lamar, Dram). The JUNO Award and Polaris Music Prize nominee and current Nashville songwriter (Tim McGraw, Billy Currington, Charles Kelley) embarks on a headlining fall US tour with his band, The Opposition. On stage, Woods brings to life music from his literary, pensive new album Both Ways (Meant Well), including the quietly powerful “Next Year,” which Rolling Stone Country calls “a straightforward, urgent message about the myriad ways we tend to put things off until it’s too late.”

Angelique Kidjo

Angélique Kidjo – SummerStage (NYC)


Kidjo and her band bring her radical reimagining of Talking Heads’ Remain In Light to Central Park for this free performance. The Benin-born global pop star, three-time GRAMMY winner and “Africa’s greatest living diva” (NPR) had an incredible summer. She performed “Once In A Lifetime” on Jimmy Kimmel Live, joined David Byrne on the New Yorker Radio Hour and was on NPR Morning Edition, NPR Music First Listen, Pitchfork, LA Times, Studio 360, Questlove Supreme, PRI’s The World and more. A CD version of her reinterpretation of Remain In Light comes out 9/28 via Kravenworks Records.

Maxwell/ ‘Embrya’/ Certified Classics/Sony


Maxwell’s pivotal, GRAMMY-nominated 1998 experimental release gets a new reissue in honor of its 20th anniversary. The package includes a 2-LP white vinyl and a new 12-page booklet featuring unseen photos from Mario Sorrenti’s original Embrya photo shoot. The audio has been newly re-mastered by Maxwell and Stuart Matthewman, who has worked with Maxwell for over 20 years and who mixed and co-produced the original album. Additionally, the album’s tracklist has been updated, moving the original opening track to the end.

Lucia Micarelli/ ‘An Evening with Lucia Micarelli’/ Arts Music @ Warner Music Group


The violinist, singer and actress continues her tremendous 2018 with her debut live album. These 16 songs come from a live PBS special that has been viewed by millions since premiering nationwide last spring. From the exploratory works of Ravel (“Sonata For Violin And Cello”) to beloved jazz standards (“Nature Boy,” “Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most”) to a strings rendition of Led Zeppelin (“Kashmir”), this diverse setlist brings out the best of the animated and emotional performer hitting her stride.

Natalie Prass – Troubadour (LA, CA)


Following a tour with Fleet Foxes and performances on CONAN and NPR Music, Prass brings her celebratory and defiant new album, The Future and the Past (ATO), to the stage on her headlining “The Future and The Past Tour.” Prass’ new album already has received praise from Pitchfork, Vulture, The Fader and more, and Rolling Stone has deemed her one of the best acts at this year’s SXSW, saying her show was “the sound of a musician hitting her stride.”
