Ashley Campbell/ ‘The Lonely One’/ Whistle Stop Records

The triple-threat songwriter, singer and banjo virtuoso releases her debut album on her own label. Campbell, the daughter of Glen Campbell and also a former member of his touring band, co-wrote every song on a bold, reflective and brazenly funny album that chronicles the journey of a young woman grappling with grown-up choices.

Andrew Duhon/ ‘False River’/ Independent

“These are the last letters I may ever write her” – that’s how the New Orleans-based songwriter and teller of stories describes his brave new album, coming five years after the GRAMMY-nominated The Moorings. Recorded in Nashville with Eric Masse (Rayland Baxter, Andrew Combs, Miranda Lambert), these 11 solo-penned songs reveal hard-earned personal truths and bring a complex vision of love into focus.

Meiko/ ‘Playing Favorites’/ Chesky Records

Meiko reimagines a canon of '90s classics – from alt-rock to funk to hip-hop – as more intimate affairs. Jennifer Paige’s “Crush” becomes a soft acoustic ballad, The Cranberries’ “Zombie” is stripped down to a haunting minimalist feel, and other hits are transformed by Meiko’s gentle pop sensibility.
