Various Artists/ ‘Red Hot + Free’

The Red Hot organization announces Red Hot + Free, a liberating mixtape of dance beats, electro grooves and global anthems meant to feed souls, lift spirits and unleash minds from an unprecedented state of lockdown. Out July 2 and helmed by influential producer-provocateur Bill Coleman, Red Hot + Free is the trailblazing non-profit's first brand new, full-length compilation since 2016's Grateful Dead tribute, Day of The Dead, ushering the next era of their 30-year history fighting HIV/AIDS through music and pop culture. Like all of Red Hot's previous projects - which span 20 LPs, 500+ collaborations and over $15 million donated to charities around the world - Red Hot + Free will benefit marginalized communities affected by the disease, as Red Hot continues to set the precedent for artistic activism not only in the wake of HIV/AIDS, but now COVID-19. Serving as a loose sequel to 1992's Red Hot + Dance, where George Michael, Madonna, Seal and more united in a mission to support club kids battling AIDS, Red Hot + Free once again captures the spirit of the times, and delivers a star-studded, PRIDE and Independence Day-ready playlist for a post-pandemic world.

Hannah Dasher/ ‘The Half Record’/ Sony Music Nashville

Tedeschi Trucks Band

Tedeschi Trucks Band/ ‘Layla Revisited (Live At Lockn’)’/ Fantasy Records

On July 16, Fantasy Records will release Tedeschi Trucks Band’s Layla Revisited (Live At LOCKN'), a one-off live recording of the seminal Derek & The Dominos album Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, performed in its entirety with special guest Trey Anastasio. Recorded on August 24, 2019 at the LOCKN' Festival in Arrington, VA, Layla Revisited captures Tedeschi Trucks Band at their incendiary best, with Anastasio proving the perfect foil to the transcendent musical union of guitarist Derek Trucks and guitarist/vocalist Susan Tedeschi, and frequent TTB collaborator Doyle Bramhall II, further supporting a live experience that, in the words of Uproxx’s Steven Hyden, provides “life-affirming shelter from the soul-destroying storm.”

Lawrence Rothman/ ‘Good Morning, America’/ KRO Records

On their new album 'Good Morning, America', Lawrence Rothman set out to create a sonic world that reverses course from the seemingly omnipresent injustices of recent times, building a landscape that places emphasis on equality and freedom of expression above all - where "you don't have to check a male or female box ever again and bands can sound like Tom Petty and Anohni on the same record." In many ways, that makes this new eleven-song collection from Rothman, out July 16 on their own KRO Records, a mission statement on the world as it ought to be in the post-pandemic, post-Trump era. Co-produced by Yves Rothman (Miya Folick, Yves Tumor) and Justin Raisen (Charli XCX, Angel Olsen, Sky Ferreira), and teaming with like-minded collaborators across genres and generations like Girlpool, Mary Lattimore, Pino Palladino, Katie Pruitt, Caroline Rose, Amanda Shires, and Lucinda Williams, 'Good Morning, America' purges the isolation, toxic masculinity and pain of the past year in search of a new dawn.

Chase Bryant

Chase Bryant/ ‘Upbringing’/ Green Iris Records

Drawing on decades of perfecting a signature guitar style and armed lyrics that favor simplicity and directness over polish and flash, Chase Bryant announces his long-awaited debut album ‘Upbringing,’ out July 16th via Green Iris Records.

Grittier and more honest than anything he has shared before, Bryant co-wrote 10 of the album’s 12 tracks, and his guitar skills and multi-instrumental musicianship have never been more prominent. The music is raw and exhilarating, captured live with an all-star band under the guidance of writer/producer Jon Randall (Miranda Lambert, Dierks Bentley). Embracing the album’s Texas roots, they recorded it over the course of a month at Austin’s famed Arlyn Studios. Backed by drummer J.J. Johnson (Gary Clark, Jr., Tedeschi Trucks Band) and guitarist Charlie Sexton (Bob Dylan, Lucinda Williams), Bryant and the band performed much of the material live on the floor, capturing the unmistakable energy and catharsis of the moment as he poured his heart and soul out into the microphone.

Gavin Turek/ ‘Madame Gold’/ Madame Gold Records

Throughout her already impressive & celebrated career, Gavin Turek has been called “a classic triple-threat, with singing, acting, and dancing all on stock in her formidable repertoire” by Flaunt, while Stereogum said her music “utilizes a colorful palette of deep bass, starry keys, and Turek’s own voice, which is practically a throwback in its own right.” And today she announces her much-anticipated full-length debut album ‘Madame Gold’ which will be released on her own label (the fitting titled Madame Gold Records) on July 23.

Somi

Somi/ ‘Zenzile: The Reimagination Of Miriam Makeba’/Salon Africana

On July 30, Grammy-nominated vocalist and songwriter Somi will release her new album, Zenzile: The Reimagination of Miriam Makeba, a celebration of the late Makeba’s invaluable musical contributions and messages of social justice. The album, which will be released on the artist’s Salon Africana label, features Somi’s renditions of Makeba’s best known songs—both Makeba’s own compositions and covers— starting with the single “Pata Pata,” Makeba’s infectious dance track and worldwide 1967 hit.

30 July

Clay Walker/ ‘Texas to Tennessee’/ Show Dog Nashville

Multi PLATINUM-selling artist and entertainer Clay Walker will release his 'Texas To Tennessee' album on July 30th via Show Dog Nashville. Produced by Michael Knox (Jason Aldean) and Jaron Boyer (Dierks Bentley's "Somewhere On A Beach"), the 10-song collection's first single "Need A Bar Sometimes" is continuing to gain momentum.

Recorded in Nashville, TN and Galveston, TX, the album finds the native Texan embracing a number of dualities. Most notably, it finds a striking balance in reflecting the era of Walker's most prolific hit-making country music of the '90s and '00s that's enjoyed a resurgence in recent years, while fully articulating modern sounds and approaches. That aesthetic is perfectly embodied in the single.
