Laila Biali – Rockwood Stage 3 (NYC)


One of Canada’s foremost jazz pianist/vocalists, she and her band play from her new self-titled, self-produced LP out January 26th. Biali has toured with Sting, Chris Botti, Suzanne Vega and more, and her new album will feature her oft-requested fan-favorite cover of Coldplay’s “Yellow."

Vitamin String Quartet – Rockwood Stage 2 (NYC)


After selling out Rockwood earlier this year, the critically acclaimed string quartet returns to the Lower East Side for a two-night stand. The set will include selections from The World of Studio Ghibli (“Sonic perfection” – Nerdist) and the upcoming VSQ Performs Hits of 2017 – Vol. 2 (both releases on CMH Label Group).

Mt. Joy – Berlin (NYC)


“Mt. Joy could be your new folk-rock heroes,” declares Rolling Stone. The LA-via-Philadelphia five-piece plays an intimate showcase in-between dates on their national tour with Neko Case, previewing music from their self-titled debut out 3/2 on Dualtone Records.

The Shacks – Pianos (NYC)


NPR Slingshot act gets ready for its first European tour with a hometown show. Like their forthcoming debut album, Haze (3/30 via Big Crown Records), the duo’s shows fuse '60s girl groups, '70s funk, and breezy, kaleidoscopic rock into an unconventionally modern sound.

Andrea Gibson – Gramercy Theatre (NYC)


The award-winning spoken-word artist, one of the most celebrated poets in their field, presents their HEY GALAXY Tour, featuring solo readings and musical accompaniment from new album HEY GALAXY (1/12 via Tender Loving Empire). Of Gibson's writing and live performance, The Rumpus said, "Gibson had charged the air…with electricity" while Curve stated, "Gibson's way with words will make the tough weak in the knees."

Take Me To The River – John L. Tishman Auditorium (NYC)


Four generations of musicians come together for a one-night-only special event during GRAMMY Week 2018. Students and faculty from The New School’s College of Performing Arts and Renaissance Youth Center perform with legendary artists and GRAMMY winners William Bell and Bobby Rush. Bell and Rush are currently a part of the Take Me To The River tour, a live performance tribute to the award-winning documentary following the intergenerational, cross-cultural and gender inclusive musical influence of Memphis.

Robert Randolph & The Family Band – Brooklyn Bowl (NYC)


The world-renowned pedal steel-guitar virtuoso, named one of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time by Rolling Stone, celebrates his fifth GRAMMY nomination with a kinetic live set with the Family Band. Randolph’s latest LP, Got Soul (Sony Music Masterworks), is up for the GRAMMY Best Contemporary Blues Album.

Belle Adair – Mercury Lounge (NYC)


The Muscle Shoals four-piece, inspired more by Big Star and Teenage Fanclub than The Swampers or Wilson Pickett, play music from new album Tuscumbia (1/19 via Single Lock Records). Tuscumbia was recorded at FAME Studios and produced by Tom Schick (Wilco, Parquet Courts), as the band leans into their hometown’s musical legacy to create a sound unlike anything from The Shoals region before: chiming guitars, meditative lyrics and a breezy, blissed-out feel.

Smithsonian Folkways Recordings

Anna & Elizabeth – Rockwood Stage 3 (NYC)


The pioneering avant-garde folk duo performs new music from their upcoming Smithsonian Folkways debut, The Invisible Comes to Us, out 3/30. The new record is influenced by Laurie Anderson, the poetry readings of Patti Smith, chopped storytelling inspired by NPR's Radiolab, Irish folk heroes Paul Brady and Andy Irvine, Dublin group Lankum and the conceptual work of Meredith Monk and Fluxus movement composers.

Starset – Highline Ballroom (NYC) – 1/31


The visionary sci-fi, multi-media rock band from Columbus, OH hits the road for their biggest North American headlining tour yet. The band’s cinematic and crazy live show (there are astronauts on stage) draws inspiration from front man Dustin Bates' background in electrical engineering and his desire to promote science through music. The band’s latest release, Vessels, debuted at #11 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart and #3 on the Rock Chart, and they recently surpassed one billion views on YouTube.
